Call of Lightning
19. Searching for the Golden Compass
Crack! Crack! Crack!
No way!
Genio's eyes widened, his strongest spear shattered by the long-haired man's bare hands. Genio quickly reacted, losing his shattered spear and turning his body to deliver another powerful kick. He saw Kenan's exposed right abdomen.
This time, it wouldn't miss! The destruction of Genio's spear must have been caused by some magical artifact. Indeed, humans have always relied on magical items. So now, Genio wouldn't fail again.
Bug!
Brush!
Genio's eyes widened again, this time not in surprise. He felt pain in his stomach before his kick could even reach its full potential. A powerful energy had already pushed him into his stomach. Kenan opened his palm and thrust it into Genio's stomach first.
Woosh!
"You're too slow, Guardian Genio!" Kenan shouted. Genio was thrown quite far and pushed back hard.
Genio quickly stabilized his body, rotating his hands filled with energy. He braced himself and clawed at the ground, still being dragged and stopped. However, he felt the pressure of the blow still lingering in his body.
A powerful attack, even though it was just a push! He's no ordinary human!
"I haven't lost yet, I was just caught off guard!" Genio shouted, "Let's continue..."
Boom! Boom! Brush!
Genio's voice had barely finished when an earthquake struck. The arena shook, and everyone held their positions. Was there an earthquake?
AAAAHH!
Aeera staggered from the tremors.
"Yuhas! Guard Aeera!" Kenan shouted. Yuhas immediately realized his duty and grabbed Aeera's shoulders to keep her from falling. A powerful earthquake suddenly struck, and Genio couldn't even continue the match.
And then, the energy wall surrounding the Elves suddenly had streaks of light, flashing back and forth. The Elves couldn't believe it; they had been attacked! The enemy was about to destroy the barrier that had protected the Elves.
Boom! Boom!
Another attack came, and the entire Elven race began to panic. Who would dare attack the Elven home? They had also set up an array that obscured the view from other creatures. What did that mean? The incoming enemy possessed great power?
"Soldiers, guard the women and children!" shouted Princess Kalya. She readied her bow, ready to face whatever came to attack the Elven race. Kalya also shouted to several other guardians to protect the queen.
Princess Kalya and Genio readied their weapons; a great threat awaited the destruction of the Elven race. They had even forgotten about the three humans who had previously come and sparred with Genio.
"Everyone, prepare!"
Boom! Crack! Crack!
The powerful protective wall, or array, that protected the Elven clan's secret sanctuary shattered from the inside. The barrier was actually made of multiple layers. However, this time, the multi-layered wall shattered, and the pressure of the energy forced the Elves to use their magic. The immense pressure indicated this was an attack of immense power.
"So... you've been waiting for me!"
A booming voice suddenly rang out, and a giant face with two horns appeared. The barrier began to disappear, revealing a giant figure whose eyes were now wide open, watching the Elves prepare to face the threat. All weapons were ready, and the figure that appeared was...
Regius. One of the elite troops with the highest rank, and he was part of the Demon race. So, he must have come seeking the ultimate treasure of the Elven race: the Golden Compass.
The Golden Compass is the supreme treasure of the Elves. The Elf Queen is the only one who protects it. The prophecy states that if the Golden Compass is not under the Elves' protection, the world will end. Therefore, for the sake of preserving life and all life on earth, the Elves have a mission to guard the Golden Compass to ensure the survival of this world.
"Give me the Golden Compass! I might even spare the entire Elven race!"
"Don't even dream, Regius! You won't get anything here!" shouted Princess Kalya.
Ha... ha... ha... Regius laughed.
"Actually, I came to offer the Elves a generous offer of cooperation. If you hand over the Golden Compass properly, I will become the next Demon King and seize power over the Demons. If that happens, I will grant you Elves special privileges, and no other race will bother you! However... you did ask me to take it by force!"
Regius's eyes lit up.
"I haven't had any fun in a long time, and I'll make you my sacrifice. I've been imprisoned for a long time under King Lucifer's punishment! So, I'll finish you off and take the power of the Golden Compass!"
"Keep dreaming, Regius! Even if we die, we won't give you the Golden Compass!" Genio stepped forward and readied his spear. He had already changed his weapon, ready to die to protect the Elf race with his life.
"Good! You're indeed great. I enjoy your futile resistance. At least I can have some fun first!"
Princess Kalya stepped forward, nocking her arrow.
"Princess, I'll attack from the front," Genio prepared, as several other guardians also gathered their energy. They knew that Regius was one of the most powerful demon troops and ranked among the elite first-tier troops. Of course, his strength couldn't even compare to Genio's. However, if they worked together well, perhaps there was still a chance.
"Ha... ha... ha...! I like weak ants who still try to fight! Ha...!"
Woosh! Brush!
Energy came from nowhere, with immense speed and powerful force. Like a meteor that struck out of nowhere and struck the giant Regius straight in the cheek.
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!
Regius' body was pushed hard, trees shattered under his weight, he was dragged hundreds of meters, and the ground shook. A figure floated in the air and hit Regius with force. All eyes were on the figure; it was Kenan, or Lord Kalandra. From afar, Aeera smiled because she had asked Lord Kalandra to help the Elves.
"Hahh...!" Kenan playfully held his hair, "Villains always talk nonsense! At least, that's what I see from antagonists on boring TV!"
