Call of Lightning
25. Meeting the Human Kings
“Go with the heroes, Kalya,” Queen Elsa said, stroking Kalya’s straight hair.
“I’ll miss you, Mother,” Kalya said, trying to stay strong.
The Elves had made their decision; Queen Elsa had given her daughter Kalya a mission. She must be part of the team that would attempt to free this world from Demons and Monsters. Kalya was tasked with helping Aeera and Kenan search for the Thunder Sword. And Genio was tasked with protecting Kalya. They carried the Golden Compass, which was now in Kalya’s possession.
They tried once more to believe in the will of the heavens. They had witnessed Kalandra’s abilities—she was Aeera’s summoned creature. She defeated Regius and healed the Queen. Thus, the Elves lent them the Golden Compass.
“Queen Elsa,” Aeera’s voice was soft, “We will protect your daughter with our very lives. We have a chance to make this world green and free again.”
Queen Elsa smiled, “Beautiful girl. I believe in you.”
This was the day of parting. The long journey would begin anew.
“May I give you a gift?” Queen Elsa asked Aeera.
Kenan and Aeera were asked to present the artifact bracelets crafted by Blacksmith Kai. Queen Elsa channeled the green power of nature. The power of the Elves does indeed manipulate the energy of nature. And, she imbued the two artifact bracelets, now in her left hand, with strange runic magic energy.
Woooosssshhh! Powerful energy entered the two artifact bracelets. Queen Elsa handed the two bracelets back to Kenan and Aeera.
“I see that the bond of your powers is strongly connected. I’ve added a magical element so that you’ll be even more connected. You will be able to sense what each of you is feeling. I pray that you will be able to defeat the Demon King and the Monster King.”
Kenan and Aeera thanked Queen Elsa. Once again, Kalya bid farewell to Queen Elsa and the entire Elven race. She prepared to depart, following the humans. Genio was behind Kalya and would protect her with his very soul.
The five of them set off, filled with confidence in their journey. They left the Elf nation behind. However, their journey this time wasn’t directly toward the Thunder Sword artifact.
They needed the Sky Key. That was what Queen Elsa had mentioned. The Sky Key was held by the human kings. The Sky Key and the Golden Compass—if those two powerful artifacts were combined. Then, the exact location of the Thunder Sword would be revealed.
“So… are we heading to the human kings’ realm?” asked Aeera.
“Of course,” said Kenan, “We can use my device.”
“No need!” Kalya looked at Kenan and Aeera, “We’ll use the Elves’ power—the Light Bird!”
Kalya channeled her power, and a luminous energy in the shape of a bird emerged from the ground. The giant bird shone brightly, its feathers shimmering with color. Kalya and Genio leaped onto the back of the luminous bird.
“Let’s get on!” said Genio.
“Alright!” It was a new experience for Kenan; he grabbed Aeera’s hand, and they leaped onto the luminous bird’s back. It was natural energy, expertly controlled. The Elves’ power truly harmonized with nature, allowing them to manipulate natural energy. The Light Bird was formed from the energy of this world, and for the Elves, it was a fundamental part of their existence.
Wooosh! Yuhas followed. All five of them were now on the Light Bird’s back. The energy wings flapped, and they flew away from the Elves’ settlement. They passed through the trees, ascended higher, and found themselves among the white clouds. They were heading toward the kingdom of Saranjana. Earlier, Yuhas had sent a message stating that Blacksmith Kai and Queen Elsa had dispatched them to meet the kings.
They continued flying, the kings from all over the world. They had lost much of their influence, and their power was limited. In fact, some had become slaves to Demons or Monsters, and there were also kingdoms that had been destroyed.
They traveled at high speed, encountering no obstacles. They passed over land and sea, witnessing monsters that had taken control of many places. They also saw Demons who had built their own fortresses.
Wooooshh!
The magnificent Kingdom of Saranjana—any monsters attempting to approach would surely face great difficulty. Strict security measures and the highest-level barrier arrays are in place. They are safe, unless the Demon King or the Monster King were to arrive. In that case, the Kingdom of Saranjana could be destroyed by the power of the Demon and Monster leaders.
The Saranjana Kingdom was already in sight; Yuhas sent a secret code using his magic. The guards immediately knew that the visitors were humans. Yuhas had also sent a signal from his trusted Blacksmith Kai. They were invited in, and the energy barrier was opened.
The five of them disembarked, and the Light Bird broke apart, seeping onto the ground in front of the Saranjana Kingdom. Kenan still carried his bag; the five of them were guided toward the Saranjana Kingdom’s meeting room. And, upon entering the meeting room, the table was neatly arranged and rectangular. The ten remaining Kings from across the world had already gathered. They had received information from Yuhas regarding the preparations for the arrival of those carrying the Golden Compass.
The five-person team stood; the Kings sat, and all were surrounded by their troops.
“Aeera, step forward! Tell them what we need,” said Kenan, touching Aeera’s right shoulder. Kenan smiled, encouraging Aeera. This mission was a mission to save the world, and Aeera was the leader and the key to this team’s struggle. The other three, including Kayla, agreed and nodded at Aeera.
Aeera took a few steps forward, facing the ten kings who sat waiting for her words. Aeera trembled slightly; all this time, she had been a student of Crypton magic. Never taken seriously and always bullied, she was weak and nothing but trash! Now, she faced ten kings who ruled over every realm. They had gathered at the request of King Saranjana, because there was an important message from someone sent by the blacksmith Kai.
Yuhas recognized one of the kings present; it was the king of the Hanmus kingdom. King Alex. Aeera’s biological father. Alex had loved a servant named Meera, and from that union, Aeera was born. However, their love faced opposition due to Meera’s status. Meera was ostracized and died. Alex was never seen again after Meera’s death; he never even met Aeera, who had been entrusted to a magic school.
Yuhas felt sorry for Aeera. Blacksmith Kai had told Yuhas this story. And Yuhas had already shared it with Kenan as well. So, Kenan only knew that among those ten kings, there was Aeera’s father.
“We pay our respects to the great kings. We have come here on a mission to find the Thunder Sword. We have already obtained the Golden Compass, and we need the Sky Key. We will defeat the Demon King and the Monster King! So, please allow us to borrow the Sky Key from the Kings.”
Aeera’s voice was so soft and full of confidence; she was no longer afraid of anything because Master Kalandra was always by her side.
“We acknowledge your sincerity, but is that even possible? Defeating the Demon King and the Monster King—every kingdom has tried, and all have failed after hundreds of years,” King Saranjana, Haruga, spoke up first. Of course, handing over the Key to the Sky was no simple matter. Great power lay hidden within the Key to the Sky.
“Kings,” Yuhas’s voice rang out, “Blacksmith Kai sends his regards to the kings. However, he wants the kings to place their full trust in Aeera.”
“That is true, O humans,” Princess Kalya spoke boldly, “My people have been saved by Aeera. We even lent them the Golden Compass because we believe they are capable of carrying out this heavy task.”
“We only wish to borrow the Golden Compass and the Key to the Heavens. After that, we will return them, O Kings.”
Aeera’s voice again; now the kings listened to Aeera’s explanation, the little girl determined to fight the monsters and demons.
“Then… who dares to guarantee that the Key to the Heavens won’t be lost?” King Kirito’s voice asked; he was still hesitant to hand over the Key to the Heavens.
Indeed, the other kings were also questioning it. What guarantee was there that the Sky Key wouldn’t be lost, and who dared to guarantee it? Everyone was silent; no one had answered yet.
“I will be the guarantor!” Kenan’s voice rang out, and everyone turned to look at him.
Was he even considered worthy, being merely a summoned creature?
