Call of Lightning
30. Boring!
27. Boring!
A massive army was visible in the distance, the earth trembling and rumbling. Kenan floated after Princess Kalya, who was already flying above. Kalya's eyes were transfixed by the arrival of the army, filled with fiery energy.
They were the Demon Army!
Kenan followed beside Princess Kalya, seeing countless armies of various sizes. Kenan felt like he was watching a scene from the fantasy war film, The Lord of the Rings, where armies of humans and other races maintained peace against an army of ORCs that had already filled the entire earth.
Heh! Kenan sighed softly.
"Are you afraid, Lord Summons?" Kalya asked, looking at Kenan's face from the side.
Kenan smiled, "I'm not afraid, Princess Kalya. I just remember a movie. The final battle between humans, elves, dwarves, and other races. They faced countless enemies, including Orc monsters. The heroes fought to destroy the ring belonging to the evil king that could bring the evil king back to life."
"What was that movie? Did a war like this ever happen in your world?" Princess Kalya wondered.
Kenan scratched his head, though it didn't itch.
"I forgot!" Kenan smiled, looking at Kalya's beautiful face. "Films are like dramas or performances, so they're made to feel like they're really happening."
"You mean opera?" Kalya frowned, looking even more beautiful, her pointed ears twitching slightly.
Opera in this world involves a storyteller telling a story, and several people acting out the story. Princess Kalya couldn't imagine how many actors would be needed to create such a large-scale opera if Kalandra's words were true.
"How many actors would it take to create a scene like that?"
Alas! Kenan's explanation became even more confusing.
"Oh, never mind, Princess Kalya. Don't think about it anymore, we're in front of the enemy, let's focus on fighting."
"You're right! So, is opera in your world about humans and other races defeating a powerful and numerous enemy force?"
"Of course!" Kenan replied.
"How?" Kalya wondered.
"Miracles! Mutual trust and courage."
Kenan flapped his right hand.
"Okay... that's enough." Kalya smiled, "This is the first time I'm excited and my blood is boiling. I'll fight and try to believe in you and Aeera."
Kenan smiled, "If only Luna were like you." Kenan imagined Luna, the woman who was his idol in school. Luna was the star, and Kenan was his secret admirer. During the bullying, Kenan only dared to glance at Luna and never dared to greet her.
"That Luna..."
"Yes, she's the one I mentioned, similar to you. She's from my world."
They both looked forward again, seeing the fiery red army approaching. It was time to fight.
"One more thing," Kalya was still curious, "Do you love Luna in your world?"
Kenan smiled, "Well, like an ant wanting to step on the moon. You can imagine it, right?"
Luna smiled, "Ha... ha... still able to joke around when death is imminent. Remember, Mr. Kalandra. Even an ant wanting to step on the moon has hope."
"Hope?"
"Yes, hope is like what you and Aeera always say. Hope can be realized if we try. We don't get what we want, but we get what we work for."
Kenan's eyes scanned Princess Kalya's face, wondering how he could be blessed with a woman who resembled Luna.
Kenan smiled, "Whatever it is, thank you. I won't forget your advice. I don't know if today is our last day, but thank you for your help."
"Of course."
"Everyone, get ready!" Princess Kalya descended, followed by Kenan.
The earth shook, and the seven of them, along with the twins, Rania and Rasya, readied their weapons.
"The Devil Army, and it's Lucifer Helios' strongest army. It seems they've all obtained information and want to thwart our goal of obtaining the Lightning Sword." Rasya reminded them all that they were facing a powerful enemy, the number one elite, and the entire Helios army.
Genio readied his spear, fighting beside Princess Kalya, while Kenan was next to Aeera. Aeera was in the center of the line.
"This is our chance, as Blacksmith Kai said. The immense energy will attract the Lightning Sword," said Yuhas. "Earlier, Master Kai entrusted me with a magical explosive device to detonate in search of clues to the Lightning Sword. However, it seems this battle could be the trigger to find the Lightning Sword."
Drap! Drap! BRUSH!
Trees in the distance could be seen falling, dust flying. The Demon army was seen flying and jumping until they were only 50 meters away. Shodam, holding his hammer, raised it upwards as a signal for his troops to stop. The Demon army looked very arrogant and ready to crush the nine humans before them. However, they didn't dare act, waiting for Shodam's instructions.
And... they were also curious about the person who defeated Regius.
The Demon army looked so numerous as they all stood behind Shodam. Shodam was the highest Demon under Helios's leadership. He was the number one Demon war commander, leading all wars throughout history. He had traversed all lands and conquered many races, including humans. He was the strongest Demon after Helios.
Bug!
Shodam lowered the energy of the great hammer and struck the ground in front of Shodam. His muscular body trembled, and his two horns lit up at the tips. A breath of energy escaped Shodam's large nose, and his cheeks wrinkled slightly at the sight of the foolish humans before him, so few in number, yet fearless of him and his entire army.
They were truly courting death, even though they had destroyed many humans, cities, and settlements. However, the nine humans in front of him didn't even move or pay any respect.
Truly, courting death.
"You ants, still hoping to find a mythical sword to defeat the Demon King? How naive, idiots!"
Woosshhh!
Shodam released a powerful energy, and its power struck the nine humans who remained standing fearlessly.
"Heh... I'll spare one or two of you if you hand over the Sky Key and the Golden Compass. Whoever wants to betray you, I'll guarantee their safety. How about it? Is anyone interested?"
Shodam tried to play with the humans.
The nine humans remained silent.
"Are you too afraid?" Shodam asked dismissively.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
One person stepped out from the line of nine humans, raising his right hand and plunging it into his long hair. It was Kenan who stepped forward first.
"So... do you want to hand over those two items and save yourselves, brat?" Shodam asked.
"Hahhhh!" Kenan yawned and covered his mouth.
Shodam narrowed his eyes in surprise.
"Is the lecture over, bald buffalo? Can we begin the fight?"
"...."
