Echoes of The Chronicle

34. Zero Point of Time

The silence blanketing the world around Davin was no terrifying void, but rather a warm embrace he had anticipated since the beginning of his long journey.

The world surrounding him had melted into a boundless expanse of pristine white. No more towering, majestic stone pillars, no more scattering reality debris, and no more giant notebook (The Ledger) demanding sacrifices of blood and memory.

What remained was merely a sacred, empty space where time itself seemed to cease ticking at Zero Point.

Davin stood alone upon that absolute threshold. He no longer felt the dull throbbing in his head. The agony of the transcendence tax—which had steadily stripped away 30% to half of his permanent memories with every dimensional shift—had vanished forever. No more cybernetic burdens, no more guilt over the deaths of his comrades, and no more dark shadows from collapsing simulated worlds.

He drew a long breath. Though he no longer possessed physical lungs or an intact material form, that sensation of relief penetrated deep into the innermost core of his consciousness.

The atmosphere in that place was profoundly silent, tranquil, and deeply reflective.

Davin gazed down at his hands, which had now fully transformed into a soft, golden-white luminescence, fusing harmoniously with the horizon stretching around him. For the first time since he had awakened in his original world's white laboratory years ago, Davin felt absolute peace.

He realized that despite all the wounds, tears, and devastation he had traversed, his long journey across those mad dimensions had finally reached its proper finish line. He was no longer a captive of a time loop forged by his own past. He was no longer a pawn to a system built by his father. He was a witness, a guardian, and ultimately, a savior to the millions of souls now resting peacefully in genuine reality.

I am finally home... Davin smiled within the quiet of his consciousness. Everything has ended well.

Right as he absorbed that absolute serenity, a tiny wave of ripples vibrated softly across the boundless white space around him. Those ripples spread slowly, carrying a warmth that seeped into the crevices of his once-lost memories.

From the nothingness before him, particles of white light gathered gradually, forming the echo of a voice—exceptionally soft, kind, and overwhelmingly familiar to his ears—a voice he had last heard in his childhood before the world was torn apart by the ancient cosmic disaster.

"Job well done, my son... Your exhausting journey is finally over."

Davin gasped faintly within his consciousness. That voice... his father's voice, Dr. Arthur Ronan, cleansed of the cold burden of The Ledger's mechanical code.

That gentle echo sounded once more, welcoming his consciousness from the void and proclaiming an absolute certainty:

"The cycle has closed. The burden has been lifted. The Architect's duty... is fully complete."
