Legend of the Lightning Strike

114. The Sword United with the Soul

Yara wove through the battlefield with staggering speed. Spotting her trajectory, two guards lunged forward to block her path. Anticipting the intercept, Yara dropped her frame low to the earth—a sudden evasion that caught both opponents completely off guard.

Gliding beneath their guards, she executed a fluid dual-slash across both their midsections in a single breath. By the time her feet touched down on the other side, the two guards were already collapsing onto the dirt.

The remaining bodyguards began to tremble as they witnessed Yara's terrifying, dance-like lethality.

When faint traces of dark magic flared around her opponents, Yara's eyes ignited with a sharp, brilliant light. Raising her long, slender rapier toward the sky, she locked onto the seven remaining elite guards, whose eyes glowed with corrupt, unnatural energy.

As the seven rushed her simultaneously, Yara stepped her right foot back, tightening her grip on her slender steel. Pivoting forward, she launched herself into a high-speed assault.

"Shadow Dance Ultimate!"

In an instant, Yara's presence seemed to multiply, filling every inch of the courtyard. Her fluid maneuvers left behind flickering trails of light that resembled crackling lightning, weaving a web of interconnected strikes.

Blanketing the area in a flash of silver, Yara glided past all seven elite guards, coming to a rest behind them. She lowered her rapier diagonally to her right, its slender tip quivering as it vaporized droplets of dark blood and black mist.

As the dark vapor dissolved into the air, the seven elite guards collapsed one after another, rendered completely motionless.

THUD! SLASH!

Casting a cool glance over her shoulder, Yara flicked her wrist and smoothly sheathed her rapier into its scabbard.

On the other side of the courtyard, Sanjo flipped mid-air, his dual trisulas making short work of four guards in rapid succession. Sanjo was renowned for his explosive kicks and hand-to-hand agility. Recognizing his natural combat style, Warrior Jiro had recommended the trisulas, as their handles integrated seamlessly with Sanjo's wrists during close-quarters combat.

The combination proved devastating. Sanjo's strikes carried immense kinetic force, enabling him to neutralize heavily armored opponents instantly. Furthermore, the trisulas had been forged at the Golden Crane Academy under Master Rakuta's direction, utilizing the highest-grade alloys infused with specialized elemental magic.

The custom armaments forged for the Sky Squad had been specifically engineered to counter dark forces—their embedded elemental runes amplifying the user's physical output while actively suppressing dark magic.

The six remaining guards, shrouded in a dense dark fog, charged forward with swords and spears. Sanjo sprinted to meet them, vaulting off the shafts of two incoming spears to close the distance. As a short-range brawler, his overwhelming impact force made him lethal to anyone within his striking radius.

With the spearheads deflected, Sanjo materialized directly in front of the guards. Shocked by his sudden proximity, the guards swung their swords to intercept him.

Yet their reactions proved far too slow. In a split second, Sanjo unleashed his maximum output, a blinding burst of energy shattering their focus and causing their movements to appear sluggish by comparison.

"Ultimate Cross Speed!"

Sanjo whirled like a vortex, unleashing a hurricane of pressure as his trisulas tore through everything in their path. The concentrated force blasted all six guards backward, inflicting heavy energy trauma across their armor.

The guards were hurled in all directions—some smashed into walls, while others skidded across the courtyard or were launched skyward. None rose again, leaving only faint wisps of dark aura seeping from their prone forms.

Sanjo looked up, surveying the quiet battleground. All cleared? Twirling his trisulas with practiced ease, he slid them into the cross-sheath strapped across his back.

CLICK!

With his weapons secured, he sat down on a nearby stone to catch his breath, turning his attention toward the duel between Nagada and the five corrupt advisors, which was reaching its climax.

Across the courtyard, the transformed advisors pressed their assault against Nagada with feral intensity. Trapped under a barrage from multiple angles, Nagada maintained a spherical energy shield to deflect the dark-infused strikes.

Unbeknownst to most, Warrior Jiro had provided Nagada with specialized conditioning tailored to his unique aptitude. Though Nagada was a dedicated swordsman, his capacity for magical energy was extraordinary.

Jiro had taught him an advanced sword art: unifying the blade with one's absolute soul. When a warrior achieves true resonance with their weapon, the blade is no longer guided merely by physical hands or muscles—it functions as an extension of their very spirit.

Through relentless discipline, Nagada had mastered the technique. Now, it was time to demonstrate it to the dark army—proving that the strength forged through honest, unyielding effort far surpassed power gained through corrupt shortcuts.

"Sword Soul Destroy!"

Nagada's eyes erupted with brilliant light as beams of radiant energy burst from his vessel like a miniature sun. The blinding light pierced straight through the gaps in the five advisors' relentless assault.

The light intensity multiplied exponentially until Nagada's body and broadsword were enveloped in a blinding aura. Fighting nearby, King Yomura caught sight of the phenomenon and felt a wave of immense pride.

For his young son to fight five senior advisors to a standstill was an extraordinary achievement in its own right.

The resulting shockwave exploded outward, repelling all five advisors despite their active Soul Transformations. The kinetic burst proved overwhelming, driving them backward despite their heavy defensive guards.

As the five advisors were hurled off balance—three launched skyward and two skidding backward across the dirt—Nagada released his grip on his broadsword. The heavy blade hovered freely in the air, radiating a brilliant sheen.

Closing his eyes briefly to lock onto his targets' trajectories, Nagada began moving his hands in rapid, intricate patterns—as though manipulating invisible threads from a distance.

WOOOOSSHHH! SWIIISSHHH!

The hovering sword ignited with a high-pitched hum, transforming into a blur of light that darted across the courtyard at terrifying speed. The blade wove through the air like a phantom, leaving behind flickering residual shadows.

Nagada's hands blurred as he executed a high-volume remotely controlled pattern. A torrential storm of sword projections and sonic slashes detonated mid-air around the five airborne advisors, piercing their dark barriers and carving through their defenses simultaneously.

CLANG! SRIIIING!

Radiant sword light illuminated the courtyard. With a swift pull of his right hand, Nagada summoned his broadsword back into his grip. A split second later, secondary energy detonations erupted across the bodies of all five advisors simultaneously.

The five corrupt council members crashed onto the stone floor as Nagada executed a fluid spin, sheathing his broadsword with a heavy click.

It was over.

Nagada watched as the five advisors lay motionless, wisps of black smoke rising from their forms before dissolving into nothingness. The Mondu traitors had been thoroughly defeated.
