Legend of the Lightning Strike

120. Aji's Three Requests

The Sky Squad moved swiftly to settle their administrative duties. Barsha, Aji, and Alicia arrived at the regional command center in Prisma City to meet with Commander Yarko. Received without delay, they provided a thorough report detailing how deeply Mondu forces had infiltrated every corner of the realm.

It was not that Commander Yarko had been ignorant of the threat; rather, he had lacked hard, actionable evidence. Moreover, reports had already reached his desk two days prior describing the Sky Squad's coordinated strikes, which had successfully dismantled several key Mondu strongholds across various sectors.

By dividing their ranks into specialized strike teams, the Sky Squad had conducted swift purges at multiple locations. Among the incoming reports was an official account submitted by Advisor Alex himself, detailing the dark conspiracy that had compromised his estate.

Barsha handed over a refined ledger listing suspected Mondu operatives. The high-tier targets at the top of the list had already been crossed off, neutralized by the squad. While numerous targets remained, they were largely confined to minor provincial towns rather than continental capitals. Still, they needed to be eradicated. Commander Yarko pledged to handle the remaining targets by coordinating directly with military intelligence networks spanning all regions.

When asked about the Sky Squad's immediate operational plan, Leader Barsha explained that the squad would pause field deployments to undergo intensive conditioning. Their focus would shift toward elevating their combat parameters to secure the Moon Flower before it fell into the hands of the Demon Lord.

Intrigued, Commander Yarko asked how they had uncovered such classified intelligence. Barsha clarified that the information had been obtained through Advisor Alex, who had previously been forced into silence after the dark army held his family hostage and infected them with dark magic.

Hearing this, Commander Yarko realized with a heavy heart how thoroughly the dark army had seized the initiative. Intelligence, high officials, and regional logistics had all been calculated into the Demon Lord's grand scheme. After their defeat twenty years ago, the dark forces were meticulously preparing their second campaign to conquer the realm.

Today, the Three Legends were no more. They had sacrificed their lives to grant the next generation a second chance, exposing the terrifying true power of the dark army. The dark forces sought nothing less than total subjugation, intending to crush human civilization and rule over the ashes.

"Very well," Commander Yarko declared firmly. "We will mobilize immediately, coordinating with continental defense forces across all regions to convene an emergency high council. The intelligence provided by the Sky Squad will serve as the foundation for a total, systematic purge of every individual tied to the dark army."

The Sky Squad members were relieved to see their field reports met with absolute cooperation. As one of the formal sponsors overseeing the Sky Squad, Commander Yarko felt immense pride in their extraordinary performance.

The other two primary sponsors supervising the squad were Dasatama and Master Gonan. As the meeting concluded, the operatives prepared to take their leave, but Aji stepped forward, requesting a private audience with Commander Yarko while the others headed back.

Respecting his wish, Barsha and Alicia departed first, leaving Aji alone with the commander.

"Don't you think Aji is far too enigmatic about everything?" Barsha asked Alicia as they rode their horses side by side through the city streets.

"Barsha, if someone as close to him as you finds him unusual, then I completely agree with you."

Barsha looked up at the open sky. "From the very first day I met him—when my cousin Aaman asked me to keep an eye on him—I noticed his strength. It isn't a level of power anyone his age should naturally command. Yet, if he truly is the disciple of the Three Legends, then nothing regarding him is impossible."

Alicia shared the exact same sentiment. The Three Legends included both of their grandfathers: Saint Yonan and Saint Ganada.

Both young women drifted into their own quiet reflections. Deep within their hearts, unspoken feelings had taken root toward the quiet, humble youth who commanded absolute strength—a warrior who had learned at the feet of their own grandfathers. It reinforced their faith that their grandfathers' choice to pass their legacy to Aji had been a decision of profound foresight.

Barsha recalled her growing admiration for Aji when he was originally offered the position of Squad Leader, only to yield the leadership to her without hesitation. He held no desire for fame or prestige, despite possessing every quality required to command a global vanguard.

Alicia, meanwhile, remembered Aji's quiet nobility. He had unselfishly handed her the ancestral scroll left behind by her grandfather Yonan, and had later placed himself in harm's way to confront Gultron and banish him from the battlefield. Facing death without batting an eye, Alicia held a quiet conviction that it was Aji who had ultimately slain Gultron.

Back in the command office...

"How may I assist you, Aji?" Commander Yarko asked, gesturing for the youth to take a seat. Yarko had monitored Aji since the Sky Squad entrance trials, noting his uncanny performance across all three stages. Furthermore, Aaman from military intelligence had repeatedly emphasized that Aji required special consideration as the direct disciple of the Three Legends. Though lingering doubts remained, Yarko could not deny that Aji's calm composure and raw aura defied conventional measurement.

"May I present three specific requests to you, Commander Yarko?" Aji asked calmly.

"Speak. If it lies within my authority, I will grant them."

"First, grant Aaman a temporary leave of absence from his intelligence duties so he may join the Sky Squad's intensive training over the next two months. The regimen will be conducted directly by Warrior Jiro."

Commander Yarko paused briefly. "And your second request?"

"Please inform Lord Dasatama that the grand war against the Demon Lord is imminent. Before joining the Sky Squad, I personally investigated their movements. The Demon Lord has been recovering his vessel, and his awakening is now complete. He will soon launch an all-out campaign against the realm. Tell Dasatama to prepare the continental alliance for war."

"You..." Commander Yarko's eyes narrowed as curiosity burned within him. He started to press for details, but realized questioning the youth was pointless. "Very well. What is your third request?"

Aji met Yarko's gaze, his expression solemn. "You should know that the Demon Lord's vessel was critically damaged twenty years ago by the combined sacrifice of the Three Legends. They interrupted his assimilation of the celestial artifact known as the Blood Supreme. Over the past twenty years, Shura has completed the assimilation of the Blood Supreme and fully mended his vessel. Now, he is preparing his final offensive."

"Hold on, Aji... Shura? Is the Demon Lord's true name really Shura?" Yarko gasped, his mind reeling. "The details you speak of are lost to history—few living souls possess such knowledge. If you truly inherit the legacy of the Three Legends, I do not doubt your words. I will report this to Dasatama immediately and begin mobilizing the continental forces. Now, what is your third request?"

Aji looked at Commander Yarko—a veteran recognized as one of the most powerful grandmasters across the continents. Aji recalled Saint Yonan once mentioning a brilliant young prodigy named Yarko.

"I will instruct you in the ultimate stance of Swordsmanship, a refined technique perfected through the combined mastery of Ganada and Yonan. I will demonstrate it to you now."

The offer caught Commander Yarko completely off guard. A youth claiming the legacy of the Three Legends was offering to teach him the absolute peak of Swordsmanship—at a time when Yarko had hit a firm bottleneck in his own internal cultivation. In the pursuit of martial truth, learning from a younger master carried no dishonor if that master possessed true insight.

A warm smile broke across Yarko's face, signaling his consent. At the same time, he welcomed the chance to witness the true depth of a disciple of the Three Legends firsthand.

"Very well. When do you wish to demonstrate this technique?"

"Right now, Commander Yarko," Aji replied evenly.
