Legend of the Lightning Strike
28. Dompai, Third Test Site
Morning greeted us; the third test would be the toughest day for the 21 remaining Sky Troop participants. The test would be held at an undisclosed location, but the participants were to gather in the square for instructions first.
Aji was already standing with his arms crossed in the square, and several participants had already arrived and entered. Alicia was also there, occasionally glancing at Aji, but he remained unmoved and relaxed.
Barsha followed suit, leaving only a few participants who had passed the second test still missing. By the time the sun had set, all 21 participants were complete.
The square was guarded by warriors from the White School, who were guarding and neatly encircling the area. They were the security forces from Prisma City. A plump man approached Aji.
"Thank you for your help yesterday, sir. By the way, what's your name?" It was Nora's voice, the one he had saved from the attacker disguised as a participant yesterday.
Aji looked at the stocky man, "That's normal. I'm Aji. Just call me Aji."
"Okay, I'll help you in the future," Nora smiled, and Aji returned the smile. Making new friends was certainly a good thing. It would make his mission to defeat the Demon Lord easier.
All 21 participants who passed the second test had gathered. They were now glancing around to get to know each other; this would be more familiar for the Heavenly Troops if they fought together as a team.
The participants were already escorted by selected soldiers from Prisma City. They surrounded the participants and lined up neatly. Meanwhile, they were also prepared to line up and be on guard in case anything untoward happened.
From the direction of the Mayor of Prisma, several men walked majestically, accompanied by several guards. They were Chairman Yarko, Chairman Gonan, and another man standing slightly behind them. An old man with a beard.
The three of them approached the participants of the third test of the Heavenly Troops, accompanied on their right, left, and behind them were several high-ranking warriors.
When they reached the Heavenly Army test takers, who were already at their guard, they stopped. Chief Gonan stepped forward and raised his right hand.
"I congratulate you; you have passed the test well. But remember one thing. This third test is a very difficult one. In fact, some of you, or even all of you, may fail."
Chief Gonan issued an ultimatum, urging the participants to understand this and not take it lightly.
According to the Elders from all alliances across the five continents, this third test is a very difficult one, affecting the mental state of the Heavenly Army test takers. They are the hope of the entire continent.
The participants must be prepared for any eventuality, especially as they are being prepared to serve as the main gateway to fighting the dark forces and the Demon Lord. They are a secret they guard among the Elders and dignitaries across the five continents. This third test will use the highest-level artifact: the Heart Dragon Artifact.
"Therefore," Chief Yarko added to Chief Gonan's words, "you must use all your strength. Your strength and mental fortitude are paramount to passing this third test. Therefore, you will be given brief instructions and preparation, which will be your key words in this third test.
I invite you, the highest elder of the Orpris Continent, Lord Nurin."
Upon hearing the name Lord Nurin, or Grandpa Nurin, all eyes turned to the bearded old man standing between Chief Gonan and Chief Yarko. A respected elder throughout the Orpris Continent, he had become a legend in his own right after three legends disappeared from the martial arts world.
Elder Nurin was commonly called Grandpa Nurin.
Grandpa Nurin stepped forward, his hands clasped behind his back. "Welcome, Heavenly Troop participants. Let me first congratulate you on passing two tests." Grandpa Nurin's voice was full of charisma. He looked at the 21 Heavenly Troop participants in turn.
Grandpa Nurin's gaze lingered for a moment on Aji, who looked very relaxed, his arms crossed.
Grandpa Nurin's voice was enough to make everyone there listen intently. He was the most influential legend across all continents, and also the white warrior idolized by everyone.
Grandpa Nurin smiled at all the participants, "I hope you all pass and become successors to the warriors and shields of justice. I truly hope so. Therefore, listen carefully to the important information I have to convey regarding the specifications for this third test."
The wind blew softly and quietly, forcing the participants and everyone else in the square to listen intently. They listened intently, listening intently to every detail they could glean from the legend's instructions.
"This test is about your mental fortitude. How strong is your mental fortitude in battle? Your mental fortitude must be able to face anything that comes your way. Even if the forces of darkness surround you, you must not be afraid!"
Grandpa Nurin's instructions were heeded intently by all the Heavenly Troop participants. Mental test? The participants were still confused about the test's classification. Would they face a situation where they would be attacked by attackers again, or by monsters? Or something else.
They were very curious about it.
"Once again," Grandpa Nurin raised his right hand forward, addressing the Heavenly Troop participants, "Prepare yourselves mentally; you must be able to face any situation calmly. You are the hope of warriors across the continent, to be the first generation to lead a major change!
The participants were increasingly energized. A sense of justice and courage filled their desire to bring peace. They had heard of numerous crimes occurring throughout the continent, from the dark forces that continued to commit crimes, the bandits on the loose, and the corrupt officials who constantly brought misery to the residents.
All of this must be stopped by the security forces and the warriors themselves. The Heavenly Troops, a supreme entity, were entrusted with the task of eradicating all forms of crime.
It was time to prepare. Grandpa Nurin gave a signal to Leader Yarko and Leader Gonan to direct the Heavenly Troop participants to the third test site. Grandpa Nurin turned around and left the square, while Chief Gonan and Chief Yarko walked, urging the participants to follow them.
The guards followed the Chiefs and participants. They exited the square and headed eastward from Prisma City. Their journey was undoubtedly a spectacle for the locals. They continued walking until, about 2 km away, they stopped.
Directly in front of them stood a building with quite an expansive view and a unique and large structure.
This large building was the Dompai. A secret place for comprehensive training from every martial arts school on the continent of Orpris. Martial arts tournaments are held every five years to broaden one's knowledge, and Prisma City rewards and supports the winners.
The Dompai was vast, and the building itself was unique. It also served as a center for martial artists to gain knowledge. It also housed theories and textbooks on all martial arts in Prisma City.
Chief Gonan and Chief Yarko stood at the entrance to the long and large building. It resembled a massive stadium, its size enormous. The building was long, even reaching a kilometer in length.
Chief Gonan ordered the soldiers to form a barrier around the entire area, encircling Dompai. The martial artists from Prisma City prepared and immediately carried out Chief Gonan's orders.
The barrier was immediately created, surrounding every corner of the vast Dompai building. Its shape was rectangular with an elegant top. After the barrier was formed, Chief Gonan and Chief Yarko stood at the door, gazing at all the Sky Troop participants.
Chief Gonan asked Chief Yarko to speak, beginning the third test for the Sky Troop participants.
Chief Yarko took two steps forward, "Get ready, Heavenly Troops fighters. Remember the words of Grandpa and Elder Nurin. If you do good and uphold the truth, then never be afraid or cower. When you are ready, enter through the door behind us. Prepare yourselves!"
Chief Yarko extended his right hand and moved it to the right toward the Dompai door. Some of the participants clenched their fists in preparation, some swallowed, and others gripped their weapons tightly.
This test would be tough; this was their third. Like it or not, it would be even tougher than the first and second. In fact, the second test had eliminated almost all the participants, leaving only 21 remaining.
Barsha relaxed as she walked forward toward the Dompai door. Chief Gonan and Chief Yarko each took a few steps back, showing respect for the Heavenly Troops participants entering Dompai. This was their third test, a special test of their mental fortitude.
In this third test, their mental fortitude would be the key factor in determining whether they would pass or fail. A high-level artifact will challenge their mentality, and that's where their mentality will be tested when facing the Dragon Heart artifact.
Information about the Dragon Heart is very limited, and only the Elders from the five continents know about it. In fact, Chief Yarko and Chief Gonan were only informed this morning. This information naturally shocked them, and they could only carry out their mission. They were also uncertain whether the Heavenly Army participants would be strong after this third test.
On the other hand, they worried whether the Heavenly Army participants would be able to pass this test. They would be shown the greatness of their mentality, the mentality they firmly believed in as warriors of righteousness and fighting evil.
If their mentality was impure and only sought praise, fame, and money, they would fail miserably.
Once the Heavenly Army participants entered Dompai, the examiners and guards were not allowed to do anything until the finish line at the Dompai gate. Whether they passed or not, no one was allowed to enter Dompai. This test was not about time, but about the mental struggle of the Heavenly Army participants.
