Naura's Tears

16. Three Hearts

Naura's days passed like a thousand different time zones, constantly reminding her of the past. She remembered how time had passed so quickly. The love her husband, Sandi, once gave her had changed so much.

Was it because she hadn't yet given him children? But hadn't they tried, and there was still plenty of time to give him that chance? They should have been given that chance; after all, they had only been married for a few years.

Her husband's love had waned considerably. Unlike when they first married, now there wasn't even a warm greeting to ask how Sandi was when he came home. In fact, he would immediately fall asleep, claiming exhaustion.

Perhaps the workload at the office was so overwhelming and time-consuming that Naura struggled to understand her husband's condition. Gradually, Naura grew accustomed to being ignored and neglected. The affectionate greetings she once often received were gone.

Since feeling lonely, Naura began to think about the man she had left, Adam. For some reason, pity filled her soul again. However, Naura always tried to push away her feelings, which were always directed towards Adam. The figure who used to make her happy and always smile. Those beautiful times... they will never return!

Astaghfirullahal 'adhim. Naura returned to dhikr, forgetting the strange feeling that had suddenly entered her mind. Previously, she remembered destroying Adam's life, and now it was as if she were the one receiving retribution directly.

It wasn't because of money or a lack of love for Adam. Naura left Adam because of family debt and saved her family. Naura had let it all go. However, in reality, she felt like she was burning herself, trying to light up those around her or her family.

Gradually, after getting married, Naura tried to accept her life's path and tried her best to love her husband, Sandi. After a year of marriage, she began to love him and forget about Adam.

No matter what happened to Adam, Naura tried to bury Adam's name deep in her heart.

The happiness of life had indeed made her forget about Adam. Naura only prayed from afar that Adam would soon recover from his slump and start a new life. Naura also prayed that Adam would find a partner who would love him wholeheartedly.

However, Naura's marriage had been going on for more than two years, almost three years. Everything had changed completely. Sandi had changed drastically, even as if he were a different person at home.

Sometimes he lusted after Naura, but more often he just left her alone, as if he had no support at all. He would just go home and sleep and then leave again.

Suspicions began to arise; her husband often came home drunk. Naura tried to remind her husband, but only received shouts and scoldings to stay out of her husband's affairs.

For a long time, Naura remained silent. Her family's debts continued to haunt her, and the feelings of love that had begun to grow also sometimes wavered. But again, debts and saving her family took priority. Naura continued to love her husband because he was her imam.

Naura always prayed, hoping that one day he would change.

Suspicious, yes. Despite her suspicions, there was no helping it. Naura could only accept her fate. She simply felt that fate was taking its toll on her. Those who commit injustice will one day suffer the consequences of their wrongdoing. He had toyed with Adam's life, and perhaps this was his punishment on earth for toying with the feelings of someone as pure-hearted as Adam.

Until the moment arrived. Sandi brought a sexy woman home and asked for permission to remarry.

Naura's mind suddenly felt like it was about to shatter, and she couldn't think straight again.

***

It was unbelievable. Diandra was able to stand upright, her eyes darting around. She noticed the three people who had just arrived in a hurry. Diandra, when Aunt Jamilaha left, had bent her legs and succeeded. Diandra then opened her eyes, and everything was clearly visible.

Diandra was stunned. What color were the surroundings around her in the room? She felt happy and immediately tilted her body to the edge of the spring bed, starting to stretch her legs down.

Diandra propped her hands on the edge of the mattress and smiled. She lifted herself up, trying to be brave. And she succeeded, just then, three people quickly entered and called her name. Their eyes were filled with amazement, unable to form words. Everyone was transfixed by Diandra's condition as the cool morning breeze caressed their faces.

"Father..., Mother..."

The words, accompanied by tears of joy, trembled from Diandra's lips, overcome by the sheer joy and mixture of emotions. She couldn't even describe them; this was a miracle for Diandra, and it felt like a dream.

"This isn't a dream, is it? Diandra isn't dreaming, is she?"

Diandra moved her hands forward as a sign of confidence in her parents. Although she hadn't seen them since she was little, this time she had an instinct that the two parents before her were her father and mother.

"My daughter... Oh!"

A sob of joy suddenly broke the silence of the room. Sarah and Hamid rushed to Diandra and embraced her from both sides. The sobs of joy flowed together, uncontrollably. Hamid and Syarah's joy was indescribable, seeing their dream come true. Diandra could stand and see them.

Diandra herself still couldn't believe she was standing upright, and she stared at the room. Her father, her mother, and even Mrs. Jamilah. Diandra babbled on and on, asking her mother about the colors she had always wondered about. She asked if they were white, red, green, yellow, and all the colors.

Sarah Emin was so happy, she felt like she had been rejuvenated and was eager to explain everything to her daughter. Hamid couldn't hold back his tears; his beloved daughter could now see and stand upright.

"My daughter, let's try walking!" Hamid was so excited that he couldn't wait and took Diandra's hand to help her walk.

Right! Diandra had only been standing, but what about walking? How does it feel to walk and take steps? Yes, you have to try.

Diandra nodded at Hamid, her father. Her right leg trembled slightly, and Hamid still held her hand. Sarah immediately took Diandra's left hand. Both parents were so happy and wanted to be there for their child's most precious moment. Like a child learning to walk, parents are eager to see their progress and see each small step they take.

Diandra began to slowly move her right foot forward, moving slowly for fear of falling, of course. The foot moved forward and began to move, and it moved successfully. Everyone smiled, even Bi Jamilah was deeply moved by the sight.

Slowly, Diandra's right foot moved forward and touched the floor in front of her. Her body moved forward while her parents only helped maintain balance by holding Diandra's hands. Diandra's left foot moved forward alternately, and indeed, it succeeded, taking several steps.

"Now... let Diandra walk on her own, Mom and Dad."

Hamid and Sarah understood this, and they released their grip on Diandra. They were overjoyed, witnessing something that seemed impossible. Diandra walked ahead of them slowly, moving away from them until she reached the exit.

Reaching the exit of the hotel room, Diandra turned, her smile growing again, and she walked back toward her parents. They smiled at each other, and that morning they continued their conversation happily.

Eventually, they had breakfast with the guards, and they were very happy and congratulated their Miss, Diandra. Diandra was able to recognize Sandi and the other guards. She saw faces—human faces that had only been in her imagination all this time.

In fact, she loved looking at her face in the mirror. Yes, a mirror that could reflect images so she could see her own face. Before, everything was just stories told to her, and her mind imagined them. Now, it was all proven by seeing her own face.

Diandra smiled to herself as she looked at her face in the mirror, as if talking to herself.

"Am I beautiful, Mother?" In front of the mirror, Diandra stood with her mother behind her.

Sarah looked at her daughter's face reflected in the mirror. "You are the most beautiful woman in the world, Diandra."

Diandra's shy smile was enough, flattered by her mother's compliment. She blushed, her cheeks flushed red. It also taught her how someone can be embarrassed by praise, and her face can turn red. She was like a child learning everything.

Yes, she was like a child. Sarah also understood her daughter, understanding her because all this time, Diandra had only seen darkness.

"Your father is very happy, he even wants to spend at least a week with us here. He has entrusted the companies to your brother, so we can relax here."

"Really?" Diandra became even happier.

"Yes, my daughter," Sarah's happiness was complete now. She wanted Diandra to at least take a vacation to heal all her suffering. Later, when she returned home, she hoped Diandra would be able to forget the hardships she had experienced. "But Mother..." Diandra suddenly turned away from the mirror and looked at her mother, "That man, Adam. I just remembered him. Diandra has to meet him right now."

Sarah was shocked and also remembered that she had immediately taken care of the sick young man. Of course, all of this also happened because of it. This happiness made them forget about Adam. And also, Sarah suddenly remembered the oath her daughter had sworn to marry Adam. Sarah was immediately frightened by her daughter's oath, wondering whether she would do this.

"Diandra will go to see Adam; if Diandra recovers, Adam must also recover."

Sarah fell silent. Diandra hurried to choose her clothes and immediately left the room. Her mother followed her without expression because she was still confused about what would happen next to her daughter.

The bodyguards, including FFandii, were also invited along, but there were only five of them when they got into the car:r; Diandra, her father, her mother, Jamilah, and Fandi.

They departed from the hotel; the others were left waiting at the hotel. On the way, Diandra always smiled; her happiness was everything, and she wanted to know the face of the person who had helped her. And… her heart suddenly started beating abnormally. It was none other than the vow she had made, promising to be Adam's wife and serve him.

Would she be able to keep that promise?

***

"But why, Sir? Isn't…" Naura's tears were almost falling. Her husband Sandi's permission to remarry had come so suddenly. Beside her, the woman, who looked sexy in her work attire, seemed a little hesitant and lowered her head. The woman was Firla Romana, and she was the new secretary who had been working for a year at the factory where her husband managed the palm oil processing plant owned by Sandi's father, Rodin.

"I've thought it over carefully, my wife. Father has been asking me for a long time to give the family grandchildren, and we've been working towards it for over two years. I beg you to permit me to remarry."

"But Sir…" Naura's voice was a little choked and hoarse, "We're undergoing therapy, maybe… Naura will be able to get pregnant for a while, Sir."

"But how long will I wait, Naura? It's been too long," Sandi's voice rose slightly. He hoped his arrival with Firla would immediately make her melt, overcome by the sincerity of their intentions.

Naura let her tears fall slowly, "Consider carefully, Mas, the household we've built all this time..."

"Enough, Naura!" Sandi's loud voice interrupted Naura's words. "Enough, I will marry Firla and have children with her. We will remain husband and wife, and if necessary, I will separate the house for you and Firla."

"I just... want us to understand and love each other forever, Mas." Naura's voice was strained. For some time, Sandi had seemed strange and inattentive to her. However, Naura never expected that today would be the day she had her question answered. "Miss Naura," a voice suddenly came from Firla's mouth, a rich and sensual one. "I will be a good wife and will share my love with you well. I can bear children for Mas Sandi, Miss. So, please allow us."

Firla's sweet words seemed to stab Naura's heart. Was this the feeling of heartbreak? Was this also what Adam felt when he left her? And suddenly, Naura remembered the Adam she had left at Kenanga Lake. Was this her punishment for destroying Adam's love?

"Don't do it, sir," Naura begged. "I'll do anything for us, but there must be no other woman in our lives."

"Enough, Naura! I don't want to hear any more denials from you. I love you, Naura, but I also love Firla. I want polygamy; it's permitted in my religion. You have to accept it, Naura."

Naura sobbed upon hearing this. She couldn't believe that her husband, who once loved her so deeply, could so easily share his love with another woman. Naura couldn't say anything else, but her tears spoke for her.

"Come on, Firla, let's go to the factory and prepare for the wedding." Sandi stood up and opened his arms. Firla took Sandi's hand, and they left Naura alone in her grief.

"How cruel," Naura thought, her heart racing. Someone emerged from the inner room; it was Fatma, who had been looking after and caring for Sandi and Naura's home. Fatma knew how hurt her mistress was, and she dared to sit next to Naura.

Fatma also had children; she understood the grief of a woman like Naura. Unconsciously, Fatma stroked Naura's hair, which was covered by her headscarf. Naura's cries grew hoarse, and she couldn't bear it anymore, resting her head on Fatma's shoulder.

The heavens bear witness to every human's story. Whatever befalls us, it's all from God and also because of our own actions. Now, Naura realized one thing. Leaving Adam was a mistake. Adam, who was hurt and experiencing pain like hell, would now also experience a life like hell on earth.

"Adam! Forgive me," Naura thought to herself, her tears streaming down her chin, along with her sadness. ***

A car slowly approached a lake. At Kenanga Lake, two people were seen standing on its edge. One was sitting with her back to the lake, facing the beautiful lake. The other was leaning against a guava tree.

The private car stopped about 10 meters below the tree. The door opened, and a woman with an alabaster face, resembling an angel, got out and carefully lowered her feet. Green grass greeted her sandaled feet.

The grass leaves touched her feet, and the woman, none other than Diandra, slowly walked across the grass. However, she stopped immediately, removed her sandals, and placed them back in the car. She was barefoot, stepping on the beautiful grass, a beauty she had never imagined. Her feet prickled with the leaves. It felt like she was in a beautiful natural world, the cool scent of the plants, the sunlight embracing her, and the gentle breeze fanning her skin.

It was indescribably beautiful.

Diandra's group had previously visited Adam's house. However, only Mrs. Halimah was there, cleaning the house and saying that Syarif had taken Adam to Kenanga Lake.

From Mrs. Halimah, the group learned the story of how Adam was abandoned by Naura at Kenanga Lake. Every Sunday, Adam would be at Kenanga Lake, even if he just stared at the water all day. No matter what, Adam would do it.

This strange love story made Diandra even more curious, and rshe ushed to ask Fandi to take her to the lake.

Slowly, Diandra walked straight toward the man whose back was turned to her, staring at Kenanga Lake. From a distance, Syarif saw her and nodded at Diandra. On the other side, Diandra's family was still in the car and hadn't gotten out.

Diandra drew closer to Adam, her curiosity growing, wanting to know what the man who saved her life looked like, allowing her to see the beauty of life and run on her own two feet.

She got closer until she was only a meter away. But Adam still didn't respond to her footsteps at all, remaining silent, staring at the water reflecting in the sunlight. Diandra arched her back, her head very close to Adam's, and there she saw his face perfectly up close. Adam's face, his thin face, and his calm eyes. What happened to Diandra's vision when she saw Adam?

What was it about Diandra that was so transfixed by that smiling face?
