Naura's Tears

35. The Governor's Story

A luxurious-looking car arrived at Heaven's Spring. Two large cars, like escorts, followed behind it. The car stopped in the front parking lot, and several people got out. Red license plates, an official?

A man emerged from the door of the most luxurious car from the back seat. He was wearing a full suit and smiled at the beauty of the place. He was amazed that such beauty could exist in such a deep place. His eyes even caught a glimpse of a mosque and a hotel, as well as some kind of strange, futuristic building.

At the edge of his vision was Lake Kenanga, now resembling a small dock with boats. The place was bustling.

"Should I find him, sir?" a tall, sturdy man in a dark blue suit spoke to the slightly plump man.

"No need! Let's walk around and look for him."

The bodyguard nodded and accompanied his master. They walked, about a dozen people accompanying the man in his 50s, whom they all considered their master. They just walked along, and many people saw them and smiled at the man. He greeted them all, as if they all knew who it was.

The man and his bodyguard continued walking. The building's construction was truly beautiful and well-organized. Everyone was amazed by the beauty of this place. Certainly, this was a well-thought-out building.

The man continued walking, having previously passed a housing complex with similarly minimalist houses, yet seemingly at one with nature and futuristic. Was this what the young man had been working on all this time? The man thought, and he continued walking. It didn't matter to him. His legs were strong enough to walk, and it was very enjoyable.

He looked around and was overjoyed. There was a children's park, to the left, like a water bomb, bustling with the sounds of children screaming happily. He thought, "This is a beautiful place. One day, he'll take his family on vacation here," he promised himself.

A man approached them and asked what they needed. The man was one of the guides at Heaven's Spring, who had been trained to be polite and to take care of all the guests who wanted to find something there.

"We'd like to meet Adam. Is he here?"

"Oh, Mr. Adam, he's here, sir. Please let me take you to Kenanga Lake. He's enjoying the breeze there, sir."

The young man, named Roni, politely escorted the group of people. The man, who was acting as the Master, followed him, increasingly amazed by Adam's teachings of kindness and courtesy. In fact, he had heard that Adam was the one who created this place and made it beneficial for everyone here. He had heard about the construction of Heaven Spring for several months, but this was his first time visiting.

He had only arrived late in the afternoon because he had other business to attend to. Coincidentally, he had business earlier and was nearby, so he stopped by.

The young man, Roni, led them to a shady tree, surrounded by beautiful decorations that brought the lake to life. Ornaments, carvings, and floral arrangements were even more vibrant. The construction was continuing, producing an incredibly beautiful work of art.

"You seem happy now, Mr. Adam?" The man, who was the Master of the group, stood next to Adam, who was still sitting and gazing calmly at the lake. The rich man and the gentleman didn't sit either, remaining standing.

Adam glanced at the man who had suddenly spoken. He studied his face for a moment, but didn't recognize him, even though he remembered him.

"Sit down, sir. I know this place isn't suitable for you. But... this is my place if you need anything. Please sit," Adam looked behind him, where the crowd was crowded. "You guys are also welcome to sit wherever you find a seat."

There were now many seats around them, but these were ones that had been decorated with nature. For example, large pieces of wood cut half a meter long, were decorated and made into seats. Those who sat there felt truly at one with nature.

The gentleman also sat down, gazing out at the serenity of Lake Kenanga.

"It's so beautiful here..." the gentleman said. "No wonder you felt so at home here during your illness, Adam. You'd be here every Sunday. I even missed seeing you because I came on Sunday and returned on Monday."

Adam became curious about the gentleman's words. He looked at him again, wanting to confirm his face. His face now looked relaxed as he exhaled slowly and gazed at the lake.

"Are you Mr. Lukman Hakim?"

The gentleman smiled and now looked at Adam, "Do you often watch television or check social media, Mr. Adam?"

Adam remembered now. He was the Governor-elect a year ago, as there had been direct gubernatorial elections a year earlier. And the man next to him was the governor. He had come here in person, wanting to meet him and see the beauty of Lake Kenanga.

However, it wasn't like Adam to be surprised and do something unexpected, even if it was the Governor who came. He believed he had learned the wisdom of knowledge, allowing him to remain calm when facing anyone. He only had one thing to fear: Allah, his Lord.

"Are you enjoying the peaceful atmosphere here, Mr. Governor?" Adam looked at Mr. Lukman once more and then returned to the clear lake water. "Yes, I truly enjoy this beauty, Mr. Adam. Of course, my staff must feel it too. You truly can make this place come alive and bring peace to the heart."

The two of them looked back at the lake. However, something was bothering Adam: why did the Governor come to see him?

"I came to thank you, Mr. Adam. Back then... before I ran for governor. It was close to the election, a year before the election. I suffered a stroke. I gave up hope, even though I had already registered as a gubernatorial candidate. I almost withdrew because my health prevented me from running."

Mr. Lukman stood up and approached the lake. He stood, overlooking its beauty. "Until then, I heard that the tears of a sick young man could cure all illnesses. My wife and children brought me here, even though I had initially given up hope.

That's when the miracle happened. Although I didn't see Mr. Adam, Mrs. Halimah gave me the water in the spoon and wiped my feet. The next day, a miracle happened. I recovered, my illness gone. I ran again in the election and ultimately won."

Mr. Lukman turned back and sat next to Adam. "I haven't had a chance to thank you, Mr. Adam. You're a savior in my life, even without me seeing your face. God has guided me to this point, and I've come especially for you, Mr. Adam."

Unexpectedly, Mr. Lukman took Adam's hand and tried to kiss it, tears threatening to spill. However, Adam refused and held the shoulder of the number one man in the province. "Everything has been predestined by God, Mr. Lukman. Truly, no one can do this except God, who has written it. I don't deserve your gratitude. Now all you need to do is thank God and use your position for the prosperity of all the people."

Mr. Lukman was increasingly amazed by Adam's personality. Even his staff felt awkward and in awe of the man Mr. Lukman had come to meet this time, due to his broad and profound nature.

"See that lake over there, Mr. Lukman?" Adam pointed his finger toward the lake, and Mr. Lukman's gaze followed it, gazing straight at the clear water and beautiful nature.

"This lake is vast, sir. I just want to be like the waters of the lake. If we can spread peace and tranquility to others, then we must do so. One important thing, sir, is that it wasn't me who cured your illness, but God, who created this universe. I also want you to be this beautiful ocean so that everyone will remember you for being able to soothe everyone's hearts."

Adam was right, and Mr. Lukman kept it close to his heart. He wasn't disappointed, and it didn't take away from his busy time at all by coming here. Truly, this enlightenment gave him a renewed passion for leading well.

They all enjoyed the view for quite some time, chatting a little and mostly enjoying the beauty radiating from the lake. Until they were about to say goodbye to Adam.

"Oh, Mr. Adam, I have to take my leave soon. Tell me what you want from me, and I will fulfill it for you. Would you like me to finance and complete all this development so you can build anything on this land? I will do that for you."

Adam smiled at that, "No need, Mr. Governor. As long as you use your office for the benefit of the people, that is the best gift for me. You will be a role model for many, and our children and grandchildren will look to you for your kindness in protecting the lives of the people you lead."

Mr. Lukman wanted to give Adam even more of a gift. His gratitude could never be enough for him to recover from his paralysis. No matter how much money he had to spend, the gratitude he felt for his recovery would never be enough to recapture the feeling of being able to walk normally again and enjoy the wonderful feeling of regaining movement in his legs. "Ask me for something, Mr. Adam. I can't go home in peace if you don't ask me for something. My wife and children also sent me to give you a gift because we didn't give you anything when we came to you in trouble. After all, you were sick and hadn't recovered."

Adak smiled again and stood up, facing the staff who had followed Mr. Lukman. Mr. Lukman also stood up; perhaps Adam wanted something after being forced to ask for something.

"You are all witnesses in this meeting," Adam seemed to remind the Governor's staff, "That Adam, I am a person. By God, you must all help Mr. Lukman protect the people and ensure that no one suffers or has their affairs complicated by the state. The people are masters, and officials are servants. I simply want the people to be free from hardship. That is all I ask."

Now, they were all stunned. Adam hadn't asked for anything personally. Everything was for others. What was more difficult was that their positions were for the welfare of the people. And that was their oath of office.

Adam insisted on refusing the gift, so Mr. Lukman relented and promised to use his position for the good of his people. They took their leave, and Adam watched them leave with a smile. "May there be much good for the people," was his sincere prayer.

The governor's entourage began to walk away from Adam. He headed to his car and whispered to one of his staff members, "Keep giving Mr. Adam the gift. Try to approach the consultants here and build something they need for the progress of Heaven Spring. I won't be at peace if I don't give Mr. Adam a gift. Remember that."

The staff member nodded, and Mr. Lukman left, amazed at Adam's resilience. A man who had endured long pain and found great wisdom.
