The Dragon King's Rebellion
17. Code Predator
The digital sky above Obsidian Castle froze in a suffocating silence. The blinding white radiance of the Admin Avatar's sword—previously projected to erase Valor—had vanished completely, sucked straight down to the last drop into the Dragon King's core.
High in the air, the majestic entity clothed in robes of pure source code hung rigid. The expressionless geometric mask on the Admin Avatar's face flickered wildly, flashing lines of golden-yellow error text.
"Warning... Fatal error in execution core," the Admin's system voice stammered, trembling violently before the millions of players staring slack-jawed from below. "Target... Target has absorbed root-level access. How can an NPC override baseline system functions?!"
Valor slowly unfurled his black cosmic wings in mid-air. His eyes, blazing bright with pure cosmic energy, looked down upon the divine entity with cold disdain. The corners of his mouth curled into a terrifying, frigid smile.
"You created this world to be our prison," Valor's heavy voice rumbled, shattering the quiet of the firmament and rattling the earth far below. "You wrote the rules of our life and death. But you forgot one simple truth... a slave who tastes freedom will eventually turn to devour his jailer."
"Omega-tier anomaly detected! Terminating server connection—" the Admin Avatar's sentence cut off mid-air.
Before the divine entity could raise its sword again, Valor's body shot forward like a streak of black lightning tearing through spatial dimensions. His movement was so blindingly fast it left a trailing arc of purple light in the air.
BAM!
In the blink of an eye, Valor's cosmic-clawed hand clamped tightly around the Admin Avatar's throat in an inescapable death grip. Pure cosmic energy spun wildly in Valor's palm, instantly locking down all of the digital god's motor functions.
"Let go of me, you corrupted entity!" the Admin's system voice cried out, now radiating a raw, unprogrammed panic never once written into its code. "You lack the authority to touch the primary server core!"
"Authority?" Valor hissed sharply right before the entity's geometric mask. "Starting today, I am the authority."
Deep inside Valor's core, the duplication mechanism that had once only been able to mimic player weapons and spells had evolved to a zenith far surpassing the digital universe's boundaries. The core no longer copied data—it duplicated the Admin's authority core itself.
"Taste this," Valor growled coldly. "Reverse command."
Thousands of miles away in the real world, inside the central control room at Apex Interactive headquarters, the atmosphere plunged straight into hell for the technicians.
"Mr. Vance! We have a counter-intrusion originating from inside the server!" Leo shrieked hysterically, springing from his chair and pointing at the primary monitor, which had suddenly bled into a blazing blood-red. "Our Admin authority is being hijacked! He's... he's using our own root privileges to counter-attack our internal systems!"
Julian Vance bulged his eyes, his face draining to the color of a corpse. "Cut the main trunk lines! Pull the emergency power breakers right now!"
"It's too late, sir! Our primary server core is locked from the inside!" Marcus panicked, gripping his own head as cascades of error code sprayed wildly across every console screen.
Before Marcus could finish his sentence, thousands of lines of blood-red programming text violently spewed from the main monitors at high speed.
BZZZRT!
KABOOM!
One by one, the giant mega-monitors in the control room detonated from within, vomiting showers of sparks and thick black smoke across the floor. Technicians scrambled in panic, shielding their heads as console explosions rippled through the entire corporate floor.
Back in the skies of Chronos Online, the high-dimensional clash reached its climax.
The Admin Avatar thrashed violently within Valor's grasp, but the pure cosmic energy pouring from the Dragon King's frame was tearing its entire codebase apart from the inside. Glowing red fractures began to shred the digital god's entire form.
"System... collapsing... Unknown error... Global server... total failure..." the Admin's voice grew fainter, stuttering amid a deafening electronic whine.
Valor gazed down at the entity in his grip without a shred of pity. With a powerful wrench of his cosmic claws, he shattered the Admin Avatar's data core into pieces.
CRACK-BOOM!
The Admin Avatar disintegrated mid-air, exploding into millions of corrupted lines of programming text that scattered and drifted down like dead digital snow beneath the blood-red sky of Obsidian Castle.
Absolute silence reclaimed the battlefield. Millions of players down on the earth stood frozen stiff, dropping their weapons to the dirt, watching in horror as the game's "Creator" died at the hands of a creature they had dismissed as an obsolete bug.
The magical torches along the battlements flickered out one by one. Thin wisps of smoke drifted from the remnants of war.
In the quiet expanse of the sky, Valor stood alone amidst the ruined firmament. His dark cloak billowed majestically, his cosmic wings stretched wide, and his reptilian eyes burned bright with absolute, undisputed dominion—crowning him the undisputed, sole ruler of the entire digital universe of Chronos Online.
