Legend of the Lightning Strike
14. Grandson of the Legend of Yonan
The exam was just around the corner. One of the warriors who passed was Midan. Martial artist Midan is a ranged attack user, using arrows as his weapon. However, uniquely, his arrows are imbued with mana, making him a powerful magical attacker, capable of integrating long-range attacks with serious ultimate damage through his magic.
Midan was able to combine long-range attacks and control his energy. The energy surrounding his flying arrows was able to penetrate the Array's defenses and create a scratch on the steel box.
Midan was declared a successful candidate.
For quite some time after Midan's graduation, few other warriors passed, as many failed after Midan.
However, eventually, several other martial artists, both sword users and other weapon users, were able to scratch the steel box. This meant they were certainly at a power level of 6 or 7. They had undoubtedly trained extensively in martial arts and were preparing to become Heavenly Troops.
Another woman stepped onto the stage, and all eyes were on her. The woman herself was a familiar figure to most of the warriors. She had just arrived at the exam venue for some reason, having already registered beforehand.
The woman held a sheathed sword in her left hand. Her face was very sweet and fair, attracting many male gazes. Her hair was partly tied up in a carved knot, while the rest was left loose.
Yarko looked at the woman and saluted her with a slight bow.
"Welcome, Miss Alicia. Are you just arriving?"
All the warriors there understood how much Yarko respected Alicia, the beloved granddaughter of Yonan, the legendary Great Wizard. Back when Yonan was still with his family, he always carried baby Alicia and spent time with her.
Yonan himself had five grandchildren, but Alicia was his only granddaughter.
"Excuse me, Uncle, I had to accompany my mother after a long journey."
Yarko understood and invited Alicia to begin her test.
Alicia prepared herself and held her sword firmly.
Meanwhile, several people near Aji were discussing the woman who had stepped forward for the test. They whispered, and Aji learned that the woman was the granddaughter of Yonan, the Saint Mage.
Aji was curious, and his eyes fell on the beautiful woman who was performing a test by scratching a steel box.
"Again, your eyes always find women who interest you!"
Barsha grumbled again at Aji. Aji didn't care, even though he glanced briefly at Barsha. Barsha was no less beautiful than Alicia. However, Aji was only interested in the abilities of his best friend's granddaughter. How much control could Yonan's granddaughter have?
"Mind your own business," Aji glanced at Barsha for a moment.
Barsha clasped her delicate hands together, "Unfortunately, my cousin also asked me to keep an eye on you. I promised him, that's why I'm always watching you."
Aji felt Aaman was being overbearing. Why did he ask Barsha to guard and watch him? Ah, never mind! With that, Aji returned his gaze to the stage.
On stage, Alicia held her sword close to his face. All eyes seemed transfixed, eager to witness the woman's power. The sword's hilt remained in its sheath. Alicia's left hand flipped the sword over, holding the scabbard; her right hand held the hilt.
Alicia's eyes closed briefly, concentrating her strength.
Tring!
As her slender eyes opened, energy gathered around Alicia. Like a whirlwind, it surrounded her body. The energy gathered in front of her, specifically around the sword she was holding.
Everyone felt the energy overflowing from Alicia. It gathered around her and fused with her sword. Slowly, Alicia drew her sword. A dense energy enveloped the now-open blade.
Sharp and beautiful, the sword continued to emit a glow of light and radiate the energy Alicia had gathered towards it.
Her left hand held the scabbard, the sword unsheathed and pointed upwards by Alicia's right hand.
The sky seemed to be affected by the sword raised upwards by Alicia; above the sword, there was energy soaring into the sky. It was high enough to form a long sword at the tip of the original sword.
The energies seemed to collide. Three seconds later.
HIAAAA!
Alicia swung her sword from a distance at the steel box. The long sword energy descended rapidly as Alicia swung her sword downwards. The attack targeted the steel box from afar.
Splash!
Eyes widened as they forced themselves to see the impact of the energy created by Alicia, which struck the Array coating the steel box. Alicia's long sword energy seemed to be held back by the Array's layer.
Alicia then pressed harder, and energy from various angles converged again as additional energy for Alicia's sword, continuously increasing, growing larger, and continuing to expand.
CRASH!
The sword energy and the Array layer cracked. A long scratch was created on the steel box, a sufficiently long scratch because Alicia's energy sword was about 10 meters long. She created her energy sword and was able to make a scratch on the steel box.
Chairman Yarko declared Alicia passed, and Alicia smiled and thanked Chairman Yarko. Some people there had already expected Alicia to pass, of course, because she was trained directly by her family, and everything supported her, plus her trainer was naturally her own father. However, her father had already passed away.
However, not many knew that Alicia was a diligent trainee because she wanted to surpass her grandfather's abilities and be personally recognized. Not just recognized as the granddaughter of a legend who once saved humanity from destruction.
Alicia then descended and returned to the participants' area. Some women approached her, perhaps her guards or friends. They congratulated Alicia on passing the initial test for the Sky Corps.
Alicia convinced herself that she could officially become a member of the Sky Corps. This would certainly prove that she didn't just have the great name of her grandfather, Yonan. She had to show her own abilities as her grandfather's successor.
Next, the tests continued.
As evening approached, the tests finally ended. Yarko announced, based on the reports from the other examiners, that out of 10,985 Sky Corps test participants, 1,002 people had passed. The participants could rest for about two days to prepare for the second test, which would be held in two days.
Everyone prepared themselves for the next test, and this was naturally for those who passed the first test this time.
