Legend of the Lightning Strike
53. Memories with Her Grandfather
Alicia was awkwardly stared at by Aji for a long time. "I'm sorry, there's no need to answer if you don't know."
Aji quickly recovered and looked at the carriage. The carriage's sound seemed to be intermittently noisy, caused by the friction of copper against copper within the carriage's hooks.
"May I ask, what do you know about the great battle 20 years ago?" This time, Aji asked the four women, who were now wearing uniforms with the same motif as his, the official attire of the Celestial Army.
The conversation became more fluid, and Yara shared what she knew. She had obtained the information, which, of course, was only through word of mouth. During the war 20 years ago, it was rumored that all the legends—Fist Thunder, Ganada, and Yonan—had died while facing Lord Demon. Lord Demon was so badly injured that he disappeared from the martial arts world for a long time.
Mega agreed with Yara's story, as Mega had heard similar stories from her hometown. Unlike Rosa, she explained that she had received information that the Legends were imprisoned by the forces of darkness. They are still alive and held captive by Lord Demon and his forces.
Rosa's answer certainly differs from most accounts that claim the three Legends were all killed during the Great War. To support Rosa's claim, the bodies of the three legendary saints have never been found, and there is no evidence that they were all killed.
This means they could all be held captive by the forces of darkness. Lord Demon's forces also suffered heavy losses and injuries, so they went into hiding and prepared their forces to regain control of the world.
Alicia herself was unsure of all the stories because there was no evidence and no credible eyewitnesses.
Moreover, all of this was connected to the name of someone she missed dearly. It was Yonan, Alicia's grandfather. Before the Great War, her grandfather, Yonan, met his granddaughter, who was closest to him, Alicia.
Alicia was only four years old at the time, and her mother often told her about it.
At that time, things were unusual. Night fell, and Yonan arrived at the home of his daughter, Alicia's mother. Yonan had come specifically to see Alicia. Despite having several grandchildren, he was very close to her.
Alicia bore strong signs of being her successor. At the age of one, Alicia caused quite a stir by being able to form a level one circle. Although Alicia wasn't yet aware of it, she would often throw objects from a distance when she was angry. This ability was certainly unnatural.
Yonan took a major role in relaxing, so he was with little Alicia. At the age of four, Alicia could even cast situational magic, a magic that allows her to shape the natural conditions around her. This was an extraordinary talent, especially since at that age, she could open a level two circle to become one with nature.
Circle magic usually awakens when a child begins to understand, probably at the age of seven. Alicia was able to awaken circle one at the age of one, though accidentally. By the age of four, she had already opened two of her magic circles. Yonan paid great attention, but that night, Yonan came to say goodbye to Alicia. He kissed her on both cheeks and forehead for an unusually long time. Alicia's mother, Bella, witnessed the event and shed tears.
Yonan told little Alicia that perhaps this was their farewell night. Yonan's grandfather had to confront a powerful force that would rule the world while all warriors were busy with their own affairs, trying to dominate each other and fight each other.
Yonan told Bella that he and his two companions would desperately confront the Demon Lord's army. According to Yonan, the Demon Lord was currently hibernating, absorbing the energy from the souls of the sacrificed. He was absorbing the soul energy from the sacrifices of a thousand people with abilities above rank 6 of a white warrior.
This power would make the Demon Lord, named Shura, immortal and immortal. During the ceremony, the Demon Lord must be closely guarded for 3 x 24 hours. The Demon Lord formed his cocoon and would absorb the energy from the 1,000 sacrificed warriors.
That was the last thing Yonan said to Bella and Alicia. The war and the massive explosions that shook the world ended. The three legends vanished, and much of the Demon Lord's army was destroyed.
The Demon Lord's army retreated and disappeared from the martial arts world, seemingly hiding again to regroup.
"What about you, Alicia?" Rosa asked Alicia what she knew about the war 20 years ago. This also brought Alicia out of her reverie, tears threatening to fall as she remembered her grandfather.
"I don't know for sure, but my grandfather Yonan told my mother and me to accept his passing."
Everyone fell silent as they listened to Alicia's explanation. They knew that the legend of Yonan was Alicia's own grandfather. Aji also noticed that their eyes were very similar, and he was briefly amazed by the sight of them, as it reminded him of his best friend, Yonan.
"Now it's your turn, Aji. What do you know from where you live about that great war?" Rosa asked Aji.
Aji stared at the ceiling of the moving train. The creaking sound could also be heard, "What I've heard and seen all this time is this. The forces of darkness will soon return to try to rule the world. They're well prepared now. The war ahead of us is inevitable."
Aji was seen speaking, clenching his fists. A faint energy was emanating. The woman realized that Aji harbored something like a grudge against the forces of darkness.
It was understandable that many warriors were eager for revenge, as throughout the years, the Demon Lord's forces had been trying to disrupt the martial arts world and the people. They did so in secret. Many families and citizens across the continent had fallen victim to their ferocity.
It wasn't surprising; perhaps Aji was among those seeking revenge against the Demon Lord's forces.
The train began to move slowly, seemingly arriving at the residence of Dasatama, the God of War, renowned throughout the world and now the ruler or number one man on the continent of Orpris.
Sure enough, a soldier opened the small door of the train from behind. All members of the Sky Troops prepared to descend and took turns to immediately return together to appear united towards the room that had been provided by Dasatama.
