Legend of the Lightning Strike
58. Forming a Team
Warrior Jiro directed all members of the Heavenly Troops to perform breathing exercises. They all sat cross-legged and lined up in rows of seven, three back, with a distance of about 2 meters between each person.
Jiro wanted to teach them concentration and how to regulate the energy emanating from their bodies. If they saw potential, they could quickly absorb natural energy, thereby becoming one with nature. Therefore, Jiro would provide them with specific guidance.
All the members of the Heavenly Troops amazed Jiro. Despite having different classifications in terms of special abilities, they could all manipulate their internal energy, albeit to varying degrees.
For example, Leader Yarko was a warrior who wielded a sword. Sword users like Leader Yarko, Jiro mentioned, possessed the abilities of an early rank 9 warrior. However, Leader Yarko also studied magic and circles, and as a mage, he was rank 5.
Rank 5 in magic can imbue a warrior's power, increasing their weapons' power, and delivering significant damage from both melee and ranged attacks. This is a modification of the fusion of two individual power classifications.
One thing that Jiro's fighters noted was that a person must maintain a specific ability level that is specifically enhanced to the highest level. This is because a person cannot reach the highest rank in all ability classifications. For example, some people can reach the peak rank of warrior, peak rank of mage, peak rank of assassin, and peak rank of swordsman simultaneously.
Unless they are a monster. That is much more difficult to achieve, as monsters typically only appear once every thousand years.
Focusing on one classification will improve their combat power and focus. Someone who focuses on the peak of their strength will be able to see their weaknesses and strengths, and quickly determine a plan to defeat their enemies, even those stronger than them.
All the Heavenly Troop members felt enlightened by Jiro's explanation. Specializing in a single ability ultimately leads to the discovery of their weaknesses when fighting. This, in turn, allows them to transform weaknesses into strengths by masking those weaknesses.
All showed good signs; the Heavenly Troop members' concentration truly created an illusion of energy surrounding them. The Jiro warriors could feel their energy stabilizing, protecting their bodies, and some even experiencing enlightenment, increasing their strength.
"You've demonstrated stable internal strength for a while. This time, would you all like to spar?" the Jiro warriors asked all the Heavenly Troop members.
In the world of martial arts, sparring is a way for one to identify one's weaknesses from the enemy's perspective. This is crucial if the sparring is intended to develop oneself and address one's weaknesses so that in the future, we can overcome those weaknesses.
The Heavenly Troop members agreed enthusiastically. They would spar with the Jiro warriors.
How would they proceed?
The Jiro warriors then asked all the Heavenly Troop members to form their own teams. Jiro asked them to find other members who would complement their strengths, thus Jiro would see their abilities to complement their team's weaknesses.
The Jiro warriors were free to choose anyone; each team formed would compete against the Jiro warriors. And, Jiro would see their weaknesses when fighting as a team.
Everyone agreed. Jiro took a break and left them alone for a while, asking them to form four groups. They were free to choose their own teams from the existing Heavenly Troop members. Regardless of their formation, they could choose which members would strengthen their team.
This also served as training for when they would be assigned to a team that would fight for justice across the continent.
Jiro's warriors departed. Now, the members of the Heavenly Army began to consider who would form their team to compete against Jiro's warriors. They began to eye the strongest among them to be on their team.
They looked at Aji, who was still cross-legged and meditating. A faint energy filled his body as he concentrated on seeking further enlightenment within himself.
Even when he slept, Aji wasn't like most humans. He didn't spend any time sleeping. He simply crossed his legs and sought enlightenment within his body and soul. His body might appear to be asleep, but he was wide awake and able to perceive anyone approaching him.
The world and his lifelong training had allowed him to understand the power of nature. He could sense the strength and nature of every human being, and he could even sense the slightest ripples of energy. This time, he sensed that all the energy of the Heavenly Army members was heading his way.
Would they want to team up with him?
Aji opened his eyes, and Gayatri was standing two meters away.
"Will you team up with me, Aji?" Gayatri's voice was soft. Some hadn't dared to speak first, like Gayatri.
Aji smiled, "I can't, Gayatri. You form five teams, each with its own unique skills. You'll be able to make a big difference in team battles. I won't team up with anyone else. I'll face Warrior Jiro alone."
Gayatri understood that Aji's strength alone could match Warrior Jiro's. It was clear that Aji was very confident in his strength.
Gayatri returned with her teammates. She told her brother Lao to form separate teams, as they had similar skills. Lao agreed to Gayatri's suggestion, though slightly disappointed that Aji didn't want to be part of any team.
Aji preferred to face Warrior Jiro alone in his sparring, perhaps to gauge his abilities. Perhaps Aji needed an opponent who was his equal. However, Warrior Jiro was a figure even one level below Dasatama. Gayatri had doubted whether Aji could match Warrior Jiro, but ultimately, the uniqueness of Aji's powers remained a mystery. Gayatri didn't dare doubt Aji's abilities any longer.
A few moments later, Warrior Jiro returned. He had just gone to a restaurant; he loved goat satay. He enjoyed a large portion of it before facing the Heavenly Troops in a sparring match to gauge their abilities.
Goat satay was certainly Jiro's favorite thing to eat before a match; he said it boosted his morale and made his blood boil. This overflowing enthusiasm would generate positive energy that could fuel greater strength.
However, Jiro understood that this was merely an assumption. Nevertheless, he felt certain about it. So, he loved eating goat satay before a match. He felt more confident, even though he knew it had nothing to do with it.
Jiro prepared and returned to face the Heavenly Troops. They were already divided into four groups, separated by the empty barriers they had created.
However, one person remained behind, still cross-legged, concentrating on his internal energy. It was Aji, a young man with a calm and sharp gaze. From the beginning, Jiro's fighters had noticed that this young man possessed a power unlike any other. He was so calm, his composure didn't even hint at any change in his energy as he watched over all the Heavenly Troops. An interesting young man! thought the warrior Jiro.
