Naura's Tears

33. Has He Changed?

Naura and her lost love. Naura always trusted Adam, but he was the one who betrayed her. Adam is a noble man and holds no grudges whatsoever. This time, he came to clarify his apology, and they are now different people.

Naura understands this reality.

Furthermore, the problems between her and Adam are over. Guilt towards Adam seemed to haunt her and constrain her thoughts, constantly looming large. By meeting Adam and apologizing, Naura hopes that peace will return to her life and she can forget her guilt.

"You're here, Naura," a soft voice rang out, Diandra's. Diandra approached Naura and Adam.

"I... I..." Naura stuttered, trying to explain why she was there, and she didn't want Diandra to misunderstand her.

"Naura wants to enjoy the beauty of Kenanga Lake, and it just so happens that I'm here too. So, come and sit here, Diandra."

Adam's explanation was quite helpful in explaining the situation. Naura could breathe a sigh of relief, not having to explain herself.

"Oh, Diandra, how do you know Naura? Did you meet somewhere?" Adam was now the surprised one.

"Hm..." Diandra put her hands on her hips as she stood up and sat between Adam and Naura, but closer to Naura. "You don't know women very well, Adam. Of course, we women often have events together, and when we meet again, we talk about many things."

Adam nodded, as if understanding, even though it was difficult to understand. "Oh, I see. Women's matters are too complicated for a man to understand, huh. Okay, okay."

Naura was captivated by Diandra's beautiful face, wrapped in a bright headscarf, perfectly blending with her fair complexion. The sunlight also shone through the leaves, making Diandra's face even more radiant.

Naura didn't dare ask, but the presence of Adam and Diandra at the lake must have been related to their relationship. Sure enough, this beautiful lake would soon be heavily damaged by humans. So, he thought, this was how it would be before the place was closed to the public, so Diandra and Adam would take a vacation and enjoy the gentle breeze at Kenanga Lake.

Naura and Diandra were chatting so engrossed that Adam felt left out. Adam moved away to the shade of a tree above them, also to avoid disturbing the two women. Adam understood that when two women were having a serious conversation, men would only interrupt if they joined in.

It was already midday, and Adam approached the two beautiful women. They were like two angels with beautiful wings, circling Adam's life. Adam himself, since waking up, had felt like this world was just a game. He had become more willing to live life and accept whatever God had destined for him. "Are you guys going home now? I'll be back for prayers and lunch. Naura, if you don't mind, you can stop by the house with Diandra. However, if you're busy and have to go home, that's fine. I'll take my leave," Adam said, noticing the two were still engrossed in conversation.

"You go home now, Adam," Diandra smiled, reassuring them that they were still enjoying their conversation.

"Yes, Adam, and I'm sorry I have to go straight home. My best regards to Mrs. Halimah," Naura smiled back.

The two women's smiles could melt the world, especially Adam's. A sudden flutter of excitement arose when the two important women in his life smiled at him.

"Okay... then you two continue chatting."

Adam excused himself and walked away. He grabbed his motorcycle and started it. He rode amidst the sounds of people building the Heaven Spring project.

"What's different about Adam now, Naura?" Diandra sat down after Adam left and motioned for Naura to sit down too by gesturing with her hand to the wooden chair. Naura couldn't refuse and sat down next to Diandra. It seemed this conversation would be important for both of them.

"He's changed a lot, Diandra," Naura looked at Diandra from the side, then looked back at the lake. "Now, he's like a wise man talking. He's more mature than he was a few years ago. He used to be like a child, always eager to talk about everything. But now he only talks about important things and the main points."

Naura imagined Adam in the past, always enthusiastically chatting about everything new. And now, the change is that Adam likely understands the full meaning of life because he's experienced life as if it were death.

"If that's how you feel, then it's true, Naura." Diandra swung her legs back and forth, alternating between her left and right legs. "Many things happened to Adam even though he was just lying in bed. He seemed to have found his pearl during his illness, and that was Adam's destiny. I myself am sometimes confused when talking to him. He doesn't seem human anymore, as if he lacks the desires and emotions of humans. Except for what he does for the good of others."

The two of them continued to gaze at the lake.

"Oh, Diandra... you...You're so beautiful in that headscarf. Really, any man who sees you will instantly fall in love with you, and they could even become blind with love," Naura teased Diandra, but deep down, she saw the beauty radiating from Diandra's face.

"So there are women who like to sweet-talk, Naura..." Diandra chuckled, but the laughter quickly faded when she remembered Adam. "But not that one man. He's so ordinary and doesn't seem to complement me."

Naura was curious, "You mean Adam?" Naura looked at Diandra's face, which was now smiling beautifully.

Diandra nodded, "He's indeed different from most men. He's like a solid mountain. Now, after he's awakened from his long slumber, all he does is serve others, forgetting about his own happiness. Mrs. Halimah told me the same thing. That Adam is different, he's more mature in his thinking."

Naura had indeed noticed this, as she had talked to him earlier. There seemed to be a sense of sincerity in Adam. Adam no longer cared about their love life; he even felt like he had forgotten his past and was now a new person.

The clouds continued to drift, one by one, beginning to obscure the sun, only to be blown away again by the wind and disappear again until the sun shone brightly. It was scorching hot.

"Okay, Diandra, I have to go home. I don't want Aunt Fatma to worry if I leave and don't come back."

Naura said goodbye to Diandra, saying that if she got bored, she would come back here. To Kenanga Lake. Of course, if the project or the project owner would allow her to come and enjoy the cool lake air.

They parted ways. Naura went home and got on her scooter, while Diandra also took her automatic scooter and went back to Adam and her mother's house.

Blows of dust slapped Adam's face. He drove home, wanting to be home for lunch and the midday prayer. The sun was blazing, and the natural scenery was beautiful.

The building he had planned with Diandra was in progress. The swift and neat workmanship delighted Adam and Diandra. They had hired people with specialized expertise, ensuring the construction was done with care, and the construction was supervised by a building consultant, ensuring the results were in line with the design.

Adam felt he had done enough. However, since this afternoon, when he saw Naura from a distance and felt her presence, he felt his heart waver, and he hesitated to take a step.

It felt like his legs were truly shaking. No one knew except himself and God. The deep feeling of love for Naura still lingered so strongly that Adam struggled to calm himself and his heart.

Adam was truly struggling. Naura came from a distance, and he felt it. Each step she took made his heart skip a beat. Adam fought with all his might against his helplessness.

At that moment, Adam imagined his mother, Halimah. Her tearful face, always moaning every night for Adam's recovery. It was her tears that kept him grounded. Naura was no longer a person to him, while her mother was the one who always cared for her and cried for her every day. If he were helpless, her tears would break out again.

And Adam didn't want that to happen again.

He closed his eyes tightly at that moment. And when Naura was close behind him, God's strength appeared for him. I must be strong. Adam is a strong man, O Allah. Adam no longer wants to be a weak man who loses to love and the world.

Even though Adam's legs were trembling, he calmed them and strengthened his footing. There is no more love for you, Adam; there is only your mother's laughter. That was how Adam's heart strengthened him. His feet grew stronger at that moment, and he gave himself to greet Naura before she greeted him.

The motorcycle continued to move, Adam happy and smiling now. He returned home and ate his mother's food. His mother, who had always been loyal to him when he was broken, how could Adam dare to crush her hopes once again just because she showed up?

Mother, I am Adam. Your strong son!

The house came into view, and Adam put the motorcycle away and entered. His mother was now everything in this world. Not letting her be sad again was Adam's determination and determination to rise again.
