Naura's Tears

32. Just Enjoy the Beauty

Time does pass, and sometimes people can forget events that have passed. Some people want to forget their memories because they can be bittersweet to remember. However, some can't forget their memories because they are so deeply imprinted on their hearts.

Adam tried to rise from adversity and helplessness. However, that didn't mean he'd forgotten the person who once held a special place in his heart. Naura's figure couldn't be forgotten to heal his deep wounds.

One doesn't have to forget the person who hurt him before he can return and rise from adversity. Adam still fondly remembered Naura, everything she liked and everything that made her smile. He even remembered her footsteps.

However, the circumstances of the past and present had changed, and Adam realized this. Naura belonged to someone else. He understood this very well, so he tried to live and face reality with a smile. Even though he knew it was difficult.

Meanwhile, Naura approached the man she once loved. He himself only wanted to apologize and not destroy their relationship as human beings.

Love may be broken, but life goes on, and they couldn't possibly live in different worlds. So... let bygones be bygones, and Naura is his best friend, that's all.

Naura was shocked.

Somehow, Adam had noticed her presence. She hadn't even made a sound. Earlier, Naura had wanted to greet him and tried to work up the courage, but after Adam had greeted her first, she hesitated again before approaching him.

Suddenly, Naura remembered her old story with Adam at the lake. It had been, of course, a Sunday. A sacred day for both of them.

And the memory suddenly swirled in Naura's mind.

"Adam," Naura looked at Adam's face from the side, his face so sweet and confident.

"Say it, Naura. Don't hesitate to tell me anything. Because I've promised my body that you are the other half of my soul, the one who completes my life. I promise my body that you are my broken rib, and my life would be incomplete without it."

"You're always like that, Adam. How can you make my heart constantly think of you? That's why my heart is filled with only your name."

The two of them returned to gazing at the beautiful, clear lake.

"Adam, if one day I leave you..."

"Don't say that, Naura! Enough, don't say that."

"But Adam... what if..."

"I've said enough, Naura!"

Adam's tone was now a little harsh. Naura didn't dare continue, waiting for him to say something, and a gentle breeze caressed her rosy cheeks. The wind blew against her hijab, the ends fluttering like the tips of a red and white flag on a flagpole. "You don't need to say anything, Naura. Allah determines everything; anything can happen. But remember, your sincerity is enough to accompany me. Even if one day you leave me, it will certainly not be your will, and even if that happens, I will remember you until I die."

A sudden, strong gust of wind blew against Naura's face. She hadn't expected those words to pierce her heart so deeply.

And those memories now clearly surfaced in Naura's confusion. Having not remembered those words for a long time, they suddenly represented Adam's answer, that he truly still remembered her and was even aware of her presence.

"Sit down and just enjoy the view of the lake. You will find peace here."

Those second words startled Naura. She realized Adam had caught her hesitation.

Adam spoke again, without even looking back. He remained steadfastly gazing at the lake water and enjoying the gentle breeze. Now, since waking up from his long sleep, Adam seemed to have become a new soul and body, who only cared about the happiness of other people and forgot about everything related to his own desires.

Naura felt doubtful, feelings of guilt, and all the memories she had with Adam surfaced. However, she needed to apologize to him. So, she slowly walked over and sat down next to him, a little distance away, on the edge of the chair.

Slowly, Naura sat down and looked out at the clear lake. She began to feel the fresh air, and her feelings began to calm down. They were silent for a long time, but when Naura looked at Adam, he still smiled slightly, looking at the lake and enjoying its beauty.

"Adam... I want to apologize for..."

"No need, Naura..." Adam stopped her sentence. He didn't want to hear anything that reminded him of his own weaknesses. Now, he was a different person, and now he had to be strong and resilient.

"Whatever happened, let it happen. Just enjoy the breeze from the lake as usual. Come whenever you want, when you want peace, and when you want to see the lake. There's no need to be shy, and there's no need to feel sorry for me.

Naura... everything that happens is destiny. We humans, can only live with it well. When we accept that destiny, then we will be happy."

Naura fell silent, wondering how noble Adam's heart was. Naura also felt that many things had changed. Adam, who used to be a talkative person, now spoke only about important things and focused on the point. And his words were like those of a wise man offering advice and guidance.

Now, Naura felt calmer with Adam's words. It was as if the past had to be forgotten and the future could be seen. Now, all Naura could think about was why Adam was here, and whether he simply wanted to accompany the lake until an industry was built here.

"What wind brought you here, Naura? Are you seeking peace?" Now, Adam didn't even glance at Naura for a second; he just stared straight ahead.

"I don't know, Adam. Suddenly, my heart was moved to come here. And then I found out, and I was shocked, that Lake Kenanga would be built over by buildings like this. I'm afraid the beauty of this lake will be lost, replaced by industrial areas, and the lake will be filled with waste."

Adam smiled slightly, "Don't worry about the beauty of this lake, Naura. I promise it won't be polluted. In fact, it will become even more beautiful."

"Why are you so sure, Adam?" Naura became curious.

"Because I know the person who built this place very well. He will make this place beautiful, a place that people will remember as a paradise on earth."

Naura didn't dare ask any more questions about it; if Adam said so, she could trust him completely. Now, she focused on calming her mind; she didn't want to think about her problems at home anymore. She wanted to be completely refreshed and able to resolve all the problems in her life.

Lake Kenanga, the lake that Adam and Naura had named the Lake of Love. They only knew it was the Lake of Love.
