The Cheating System: From Construction Worker to Royal Hero

12. The Throne Room Showdown

The main hall of the Eudor palace was supposed to be a place of majestic splendor, yet in Raga’s eyes, the room was nothing short of an architectural disaster. The vaulted ceiling soared too high with a dangerously high-risk load distribution, and the marble pillars looked remarkably fragile at their bases.

"Remember," Raga whispered to Grom and Naria as they stepped inside, disguised as maintenance crew members with tool kits in hand. "Don't touch the right pillar; that's the weak stress point. If that thing collapses, the whole ceiling is coming down on all our heads."

"Foreman," Grom whispered in frustration, "we're here to stage a coup, not conduct a structural safety survey!"

Suddenly, their steps ground to a halt. Emerging from behind the grand throne room doors was a figure clad in pitch-black armor: Captain Varen, Duke Vallen's notorious, ruthless right-hand man. The blade in his hand was no ordinary sword; it pulsed with a dark purple aura, as though it possessed a heartbeat of its own.

"Who goes there?" Varen’s voice was cold and menacing. His sharp eyes cut straight through their disguises. "Maintenance workers never bring a dwarf and a princess into the main hall."

Naria pulled back her hood, her expression turning steely. "Varen, your game ends here."

Varen sneered. "Princess Naria? Oh, how naive of you. You come dragging a laborer and a dwarf to reclaim the throne?"

[System: Warning! Captain Varen detected. Combat Power: High. Recommendation: Use the weapon purchased from the System Store. Now!]

Raga took a deep breath. He didn't carry a sword, but he possessed something far more practical. Reaching into his utility vest, he pulled out an item bought with 500 System Points: a silver iron crowbar etched with faint glowing runes.

"Not just a laborer, Varen," Raga said, spinning the crowbar with the swagger of a site foreman holding a heavy-duty wrench. "I'm the guy who's going to dismantle the corrupt system of this kingdom. Starting right with your head."

Varen lunged forward with impossible speed. His magical blade tore through the air, leaving a scorching purple trail in its wake.

Clang!

Raga parried the strike with his crowbar. A violent shockwave rattled all the way up to his shoulder, yet thanks to the Mana surging fiercely through his muscles, he didn't budge an inch.

"A crowbar?" Varen scoffed. "You think you can defeat a royal heirloom blade with a piece of junk construction tool?"

Raga smirked, his eyes glowing bright blue with Mana. "This isn't junk, Varen. It's a precision tool designed to rip out anything that's out of alignment. And your current position? Way out of alignment!"

Raga swung the crowbar with maximum force, crashing metal against magic. The crowbar didn't merely block; it actively absorbed the magical energy radiating from Varen's blade. The system bug that always clung to Raga seemed to be active; with every single impact, tiny fractures began to spiderweb across Varen's enchanted sword.

"What are you doing to my blade?!" Varen screamed in panic as he watched small cracks spider across his magical weapon.

"Basic leverage physics, buddy!" Raga hollered. He sidestepped swiftly, slamming his crowbar down against the hall floor precisely at the pivot point of the nearest pillar.

CRASH!

Raga didn't attack Varen directly; instead, he attacked the "structure" of the room itself. With a massive burst of Mana, the hall floor shuddered violently. Marble tiles cracked and fractured upward toward Varen, instantly breaking his concentration.

"Grom, now!" Raga yelled.

Grom, who had been standing ready, swung his battle-axe down onto the flooring Raga had just weakened. The ground beneath Varen's boots gave way entirely. The arrogant captain plunged into a narrow pit—a classic "sinkhole trap" Raga routinely engineered to lay sewage pipes back at the apartment project.

Varen crashed down hard, his heavy black armor wedged tightly between the cracked marble slabs.

"Don't move!" Naria leveled her magical staff right at Varen's head.

Raga stepped right over Varen, pressing the tip of his crowbar against the captain's throat. "You know, Captain? On a job site, if someone blocks the workflow, we move them out of the way. But since you've worn me out, I'll let you contemplate your life choices down in this hole until security arrives."

[System: Congratulations! Combat concluded. The 'Structural Demolition Crowbar' technique dealt 200% damage. You have unlocked a new title: 'Royal Nail Puller'. Mission Progress: 25%.]

Varen panted heavily, his face turning pale as death because Raga’s crowbar felt heavier and more suffocating than any magical sword he had ever fought. "Who... who on earth are you?"

Raga looked down at Varen, then glanced back toward the empty throne looming behind them. "Me? I'm just a guy who wants to go home and cash out his paycheck. And you, Captain, are merely one of many 'bolts' I need to pull out so this system can run properly."

Grom burst into a loud laugh, slapping Raga across the back so hard Raga nearly stumbled forward. "Foreman! That was incredible! I thought you were going to smash his head, but you smashed the floor instead!"

"That's called efficiency, Grom," Raga replied, letting out a long sigh of relief.

Naria walked up beside them, looking at Raga with barely concealed admiration. "We've made it this far, Raga. The throne room. But Duke Vallen... he's definitely waiting behind those doors."

Raga stared at the massive double doors at the far end of the hall. He felt no fear left. With his silver crowbar and the cheat system humming in his head, he felt capable of dismantling anything—even an entire kingdom.

"Let him wait," Raga said firmly. "Besides, I was already planning to do a little 'remodeling' in there anyway."
