The Hidden Artery

97. The Architect’s Legacy

The calm, wise, and profoundly warm resonance echoed through every corner of the ancient stone temple hall. The geometric light silhouette of the First Architect hovered steadily above the cosmic relay disc, casting a silvery-blue glow that illuminated the faces of Zulfa, Naya, and Captain Danu in a silence heavy with awe.

Captain Danu lowered his rifle barrel slowly, staring at the hologram of the grand entity with a furrowed brow of disbelief. "That entity... is that the true form of the cosmic civilization that broadcasted signals from the edge of the galaxy the other day?" Captain Danu asked in a whisper, ensuring his voice wouldn't disrupt the interaction.

Naya nodded softly, sliding closer to Zulfa while fixing her gaze on the light projection. "Yes, Captain. That’s the First Architect—the exact same entity whose records we uncovered in the subterranean ancient documents."

Zulfa stood tall before the altar, his left palm still resting against the surface of the gently pulsing relay disc. He drew a deep breath, then locked his eyes onto the silhouette of light before him with a calm gaze saturated with profound curiosity.

"Welcome, Architect," Zulfa began, his voice ringing clear through the temple hall. "We’ve traversed a long journey through the earth's belly all the way to this mountain valley to seek the truth behind your signal. Tell me... is your presence out in the galaxy a threat to our planet's existence, or is there another purpose behind all these transmissions?"

The holographic projector shifted smoothly, forming a friendlier geometric pattern. The light silhouette seemed to smile, then answered Zulfa's words with an emotional-soothing wave of sound:

"A threat...? No, young one. Your species' fear of things beyond the solar system is entirely natural for a civilization only just learning to crawl upon dimensional foundations. We are not your enemies."

Naya let out a long breath of relief, glancing sideways at Zulfa with a small smile. "They said they aren't enemies, Zul."

"Listen to the rest of it, Naya," Zulfa replied gently without breaking his gaze from the hologram.

The grand entity resumed its message, unpacking the true nature of their existence across the universe:

"Our cosmic civilization is not a galactic conqueror, but a guardian of universal interdimensional balance. Across every corner of space and time, dimensional tears occur constantly due to the ego and self-destruction of intelligent species. Our duty is to weave those threads back together so stellar systems across various galaxies do not collapse and swallow one another whole."

"Guardians of balance..." Zulfa murmured, absorbing every word spoken by the ancient ancestor. "Then what connection does your civilization have with our planet earth? Why did your signal pull so strongly at the earth's Ley-Line core veins?"

The holographic projection spun, displaying a vast three-dimensional galaxy map above the temple altar where earth was depicted as a brilliantly glowing central node.

"Because your earth is no ordinary planet," the First Architect answered with a tone rich in philosophical emphasis. "Earth is a vital anchor point for the balance of the entire galaxy. Beneath your world's foundations lies an ancient vein serving as the cosmic linchpin connecting dimensions. Without stability in your world, the galaxies out there will lose their primary axis."

That emotional and philosophical dialogue touched the deepest recesses of Zulfa's heart. The youth finally grasped why his late father had been so obsessed with researching Ley-Line architecture, and why he himself had to endure so much suffering to reach this point. Earth wasn't merely a dwelling place for mankind; earth was the master key to cosmic peace.

"I understand now..." Zulfa spoke softly, lowering his head for a brief moment of respect. "All the burdens and struggles we've weathered... are the destiny an engineer must shoulder to maintain the bridge between the mortal world and the cosmos."

The geometric light silhouette gazed at Zulfa with a pride shining bright from its starlight particles.

"You have proven your worth, Engineer Arditama. You mended the seal in the earth's belly with human intellect and purity of soul. And now, this relay disc is entirely under your command."

The atmosphere inside the temple hall plunged into tense silence. Naya and Captain Danu exchanged glances, sensing that a defining moment had arrived.

The First Architect's silhouette dimmed its radiance for a beat, then delivered a closing statement demanding an absolute decision from the department head:

"Yet before I seal this transmission for eternity, one final choice must be settled before this relay disc..."

Zulfa raised an eyebrow, bracing to listen. "What choice do you mean, Architect?"

"The choice for the future of earth's civilization..." the entity's voice echoed with mounting weight and authority. "You hold absolute authority to activate this relay permanently to open peaceful relations, scientific exchange, and an intergalactic alliance alongside our world... OR, you may choose to destroy it forever, sealing away all cosmic access so earth returns to isolated tranquility within a quiet mortal peace untouched by external hands."

That sentence hung heavy in the stale air of the mountain temple hall. Naya held her breath, staring at Zulfa with a gaze torn between dread and anticipation. A monumental decision now rested in Zulfa Arditama's hands—whether to step forward into a brave new era of universal civilization or lock the gates of the galaxy tight for all time.
