Legend of the Lightning Strike
21. Nora
The attackers' attacks began to slacken. The attackers themselves were starting to tire. The same was true for the participants; their energy was drained as they defended against attacks while simultaneously focusing on sensing the direction of incoming attacks.
The battle in the fog had been going on for two hours, and fatigue was setting in. Alicia, Midan, and their teammates were still holding on. Arion and Astro, along with several others from their team, were also holding on; the same was true for the other side.
Nagada also held his ground with his team, remaining five men, and they continued to deliver blows to the attackers. They repelled every attack from the attackers from all sides.
Meanwhile, Aji fended off the attacks coming his way. He felt that the three men near him could defend without him. They all possessed good qualifications and high abilities.
An attack from above, a wooden sword slashed. Aji parried it with his right hand, but the sword was blocked by a thin energy surrounding his hand. From above, a wooden sword thrust, and Aji spun forward, the attack slipping away. Another slash from his upper left side.
Aji parried again, holding two wooden swords in his right hand. At that moment, an attacker on the other side attempted to strike Aji's shoulder. Aji already knew this and kept his eyes calm.
Brush!
Aji's attack landed first, hitting the attacker on the left side of his neck. He fell, and the two attackers, still holding their swords, were both deflected by the energy from Aji's palm.
Woosssshh!
One of the fallen attackers was immediately picked up by someone from the fog. Aji turned to his three comrades, who were also blocking the attackers. Each person was being attacked by about three people.
Gayatri had an easier time blocking and dodging attacks. She could see clearly with her eyes, even though they were obscured by the attackers' trajectory. Barsha, on the other hand, was able to weave and engage with the attackers with equal speed.
Barsha's speed proved to be faster and more damaging, and the three attackers were overwhelmed by Barsha's attacks. She was determined to survive, as she wanted to become a legendary assassin like his grandfather.
The God Step was a move Barsha had mastered. With this ability, she saw the slightest opening in her three attackers. Thus, two were felled by Barsha's attack, a strike with the back of Barsha's dagger that incapacitated both attackers at once.
The two attackers struck by Barsha immediately jumped and disappeared.
On the other hand, Lao was able to envelop himself in his discus weapon. The energy connected to countless discus energies, controlled by Lao, surrounded him, making it difficult for the attackers to approach him.
Lao even managed to injure one of the attackers with his weapon, and the other fell.
Aji smiled and looked at his comrades. They were having no trouble at all.
Aji sensed the battle energy around him. He saw that the people who had infiltrated and attacked the participants with surprise attacks were those pretending to be participants. One thing Aji had to do was find them. How could the attackers or assassins be so sure of their attacks?
Aji jumped towards Gayatri and helped her fend off the three attackers. Aji's kick penetrated the stomach of one who tried to attack Gayatri from behind.
Gayatri blocked the two attackers who were attacking from the front as they blocked each other's attacks. Aji assisted by attacking them with long-range punches, knocking them both back.
"Identify the attacker disguised as a participant. Give me the location of just one, Gayatri!"
Gayatri was starting to tire from the amount of energy she had expended. However, because Aji had requested it, she immediately concentrated and searched for the attacker by sensing their energy flow.
She searched for the closest participant with paralyzing energy. Gayatri immediately found him, as he was with his partner and had been suddenly attacked from behind.
Because of the fog, it was impossible to see who the attacker was. However, Gayatri understood. "On the right side, right in that direction, right behind that person!" Gayatri pointed to the right with her index finger. "Right there, 11 meters from the second person, in the row I'm pointing at!"
Aji immediately understood. He, too, had sensed the energy flow. However, he couldn't distinguish the energy flow. However, with Gayatri's guidance, it became easier.
"Wait for me a moment!"
With that, Aji leaped upward and disappeared into the energy fog. Barsha, Lao, and Gayatri could only watch and wait, prepared for the incoming attack.
Aji leaped straight ahead. A contestant was startled by Aji's sudden appearance and immediately went on guard. He thought Aji was one of the attackers or a disguised examiner.
"You must be an examiner! Come forward!" The man, named Nora, was slightly stocky and had his large sword at the ready. He stared at Aji as he approached.
Nora tensed slightly. The young warrior was getting closer and closer, now only two meters away. Reflexively, he ignored the urge and swung his large sword forward.
"HIIIIIAAAAAA!"
Nora had done so much all this time, and he had finally made it to the second test. The first test had been quite difficult for him. He had been her parents' hope for a warrior who would save the world and fight for his country. He wanted to make his family and village proud, so he refused to give up.
Nora was determined to fight to the bitter end. Many on his team had already fallen. Now, he refused to give up on anything or anyone. He wanted to become a member of the Heavenly Troops.
No matter what, attack the young man. That was Nora's thought, and he immediately charged towards Aji, who was approaching him.
Wooosssshhh!
The attack was a blank! Nora was astonished. Half a second earlier, his sword had been mere centimeters from Aji's shoulder, and he knew perfectly well that the attack couldn't possibly miss. But the young man had simply vanished, and he hadn't even noticed him vanish like a ghost.
Bam! Bam!
A sound startled Nora from behind. What exactly had happened? He hadn't yet finished his shock, but it came from the direction of the young man who had disappeared during the attack. And now he turned around. The young man had knocked down a contestant right behind Nora, striking him in the back.
"Why did you knock him down?"
Nora was shocked by the young man. Why had he dodged his attack so quickly? And why had he knocked down the man behind him, who was his partner? Nora was still confused by the young man.
Aji didn't answer, only smiled slightly, and a second later, he leaped high into the air, disappearing again into the mist.
Someone else came quickly. He picked up the body of the unconscious person in front of Nora and dashed away into the mist.
