Legend of the Lightning Strike
23. Team Targeted, Full Attack!
"Are you ready, Gayatri?" Aji prepared. Aji took a stance. He and Gayatri had already planned to attack the disguised examiners. It would be quicker than waiting to be attacked.
Gayatri prepared, stretching her arms out to her sides. Gayatri focused on her analytical abilities, and immediately, her energy spread from beneath her feet. It spread throughout the entire floor of the Colosseum. Her eyes lit up and opened wide, her ocular abilities and the energy spreading across the floor merging into one.
Tring!
'Got it!'
Quick and thorough identification. Gayatri saw everyone: both the examinees, the attackers, the assassins, and the examiners disguised as participants. Gayatri focused and captured everything, disabling energy and defensive energy. Gayatri was able to identify them all in three seconds.
"How much do you need, Aji?" Gayatri asked, her eyes gleaming with energy to maintain her vigilance, to continue monitoring everyone in the Colosium.
Identification complete.
"Give me all the data, Gayatri, especially the closest ones!"
"Okay," Gayatri said as she was about to carefully confirm the attackers around them. There was a change in formation; the energy intent on attacking and the same color seemed to be moving together, and there was a kind of energy thread pointing to a certain point.
"Wait!" Gayatri noticed something strange.
"What's wrong, Gayatri?" Aji was confused. Gayatri had just mentioned identifying all the attackers, whether they were acting as attackers or disguised ones. Aji had asked Gayatri for help scanning and identifying their locations. This would make it easier for Aji to launch an attack from a direction Gayatri knew.
If this were true, then Aji would be able to more easily take down the examiners. With Gayatri's help, once the location was known, Aji would jump and take them down. So, instead of defending, he would attack first. This was crucial if they knew the attackers' position.
"There's been a change! All the examiners, whether disguised or direct attackers, are moving together! They... they're going on a full-scale attack. They're targeting... our team!"
"What?" Barsha couldn't believe it. So, Chief Gonan had changed the rules? The focus of the attack was now on them, four people, attacking simultaneously? If Gayatri's words were true, then they would have to withstand a multitude of attacks. Focused attack, meaning all attacks from the attackers or examiners. They were now the primary targets.
This was not something to be underestimated. They now had to use their full strength to withstand the attack if all the examiners were targeting them.
"That's better, then we don't need to see and sense their energy in specific positions. If they target us, then we can just attack with our own strength."
Aji's voice irritated Barsha. Barsha was a little irritated and felt that Aji's arrogance had reached its peak. A person who had just come down from the mountains didn't understand the vastness of the ocean. Now, everyone would surely see that his arrogance was nothing but empty talk. Barsha wanted to see the limits of this arrogant man's abilities.
"Get ready, they're all coming!"
Initially, Aji had wanted to capture all the attackers' points. He would use his power to bring them all down in the darkness of the mist. Unfortunately, plans changed as the attackers were now targeting a single target: their team.
Aji was ready, "Are they all examiners, or are they attackers?"
Gayatri glanced at Aji quickly, "Yes, their energy is the same, and they're all targeting our team. There must have been a change in plans from the Examiners; they've already taken notice."
"Okay," Aji prepared, "You guys get ready and face what you can!"
Aji ordered again, and Barsha looked annoyed once again. Who was he, daring to order her around and acting like he was just the team leader?
Woosh! Woosh! Woosh!
Sure enough, all the power was directed at them. Aji could feel the immense energy of the attack waves heading their way. He braced himself, ready to support and deflect any attack.
Not one or five, but dozens of attackers, all charging forward with their weapons. As the attackers approached Aji's team five meters away, they could clearly see their attacks and their afterimages.
Aji, Barsha, Lao, and Gayatri's fighting instincts were already highly honed. They were able to quickly and nimbly find their rhythm. Right and left, up and down, all the attackers focused on taking them down. At least one person was facing more than ten, and all the attackers were well-trained warriors skilled in ambushes.
Barsha could no longer see Aji's abilities; she herself was struggling to face more than ten attackers. Barsha felt very familiar with the attackers' movements; all of them were assassins, and of course, possessed similar skills to her own.
The difference was that Barsha had been thoroughly trained by her father and uncle. In fact, as a child, she had even witnessed her grandfather, Ganada, displaying his high-level assassin skills.
All the attackers' movements were simultaneously attacking behind a fog of energy. However, Barsha was able to see all the attacks perfectly, allowing her to dodge each attack with her skills.
Aji's team was now busy fending off the attacks from the numerous attackers. They strictly followed instructions and focused on taking down the four-person team, which included Ganada's granddaughter, Barsha.
Tring! Trang! Tring!
The clashing of weapons was loud, like the thunder of a downpour. The clash of energy and power was truly intense. Several other participants seemed to be on standby, taking a break, as no attackers had attacked them for several minutes.
It was strange, were they being given a moment to rest? That was what the Sky Troop participants, who hadn't been attacked by the attackers, thought. They could gather their energy so they could defend themselves and prepare again.
Back at Aji's team, they were busy with their own activities.
Gayatri was busier blocking and fending off the attackers, using her numerous knives. She repelled and counterattacked them, controlling her energy knives with intense concentration.
Lao, too, was forced to draw his signature weapon, the disc locked on his back. Lao's hand reached out, and he deflected attack after attack from the attackers with his discus. He spun around, throwing his discus, and some of the energy discs seemed to have eyes of their own, attacking from multiple angles.
Barsha, too, was able to see the attackers' movements. Her eyes and sense of movement were extremely sharp. She easily dodged all the wooden sword attacks, though she couldn't find any openings. However, she managed to dodge all the attacks, even though the fight wasn't fair and she had to face multiple attackers.
Aji. Indeed, he still looked calm and dodged all the blows, while still observing the attackers' movements.
